Pickup pole color restoration possible?

Hi guys.

So, I have a rusty pickup pole from my PRS SE Mark Holcomb and tried to remove the rust myself. I tried using a metal polish (Pledge brand), and sure enough, it was effective. TOO effective that it also removed the color of the pole of the pickup.

Is there anything I can do to make this specific pole return to its natural black color? Anybody here have the same or similar issue?

What you're seeing is the natural color. The corrosion removed the black plating that was on the metal.

I like the patina, but you can buy new pole pieces to restore the look.

Sharpie? I'm only half-kidding. It'll get it close, and if you don't like it you can always use the polish again to take it off
