Pickup covers

Hello all,

As some of you may recall, I picked up a violet singlecut with black and gold hardware last month. Picture below to jog your memories.

I want to replace the pickups with Tremontis. I never did a pickup swap on a guitar that had covers on it, so bare with me if this seems like a dumb question but I'd like to know before I buy the pickups. Since the Tremonti has one covered pickup, and gold doesn't seem to be an option when ordering them, is it possible to remove the cover from my current pickup and put it on the Tremonti?



(And it was suggested in the NGD thread when I bought this, I do plan on getting a gold bridge as well.)

Yes it is easy as long as the recipient pickups are not the square squabblins.

It is possible, but if you've never done it, I'd say take it to a luthier to get it done. The heat required to do it can melt the wax in the pups if you are not careful. I'd make sure the guy you take it to also has had experience. It isn't that it is super scary, just a concern.
