Pick up from my watch

So whilst pausing practice on my Silver Sky SE, I put my left hand round the front of the guitar. I then noticed a faint but distinct tick, once per second. It was picking up my watch. Is this normal?

Electric guitar pickups will work in a vacuum; mics won't.

It's the hand of the watch triggering the pickup, the way the string triggers it when it vibrates.
