Photos, let's see 'em

Great shot!

Love the look of long, fast prime lenses wide open where the background disappears, like this pic from the archives:

Killer shot! I totally dig what you are talking about with completely blurred background!! Was this your son or somebody you know playing in this game?

Thanks!

It's definitely not my son in the pic. Even long ago, I was only good enough to make it onto the JV team. I've talked briefly with Colby Parkinson, who's in the center of the shot, had just scored on a long TD pass & is now with the LA Rams, and like the majority of the guys on the team he's a good guy. When I showed him this shot the next summer, he quickly identified which play it was:

Damn Dude, that is some world class shiznit! That pic could win competitions!! You should enter it somewhere!!! Thanks for sharing these incredible pieces ;~))
Thank you Willy!

It’s done well in competition so far, but it’s not the reason I take these images. Photography is great for my mental health, stops me overthinking stupid things 👍🏻

One way trip

The Vulcan pilot Martin Withers said that the crews knew that if they were called to carry out their mission they knew that it would be a one way trip. The Vulcan bomber was designed for one purpose, to drop nuclear bombs on Russia should the Cold War escalate. The crews knew that if they were called to do so, then they would likely have nowhere to return, or would fail to outrun the blast.

Thankfully the Vulcan never saw active service against Russia, but was engaged to drop paveway cluster bombs in the Falklands war.
Despite having the refuelling nozzle, the airframes were never fitted with the internals to complete air or air refuelling, nor were the pilots trained.

In the Falklands war, a Victor pilot had to go with the crew to complete the air to air refuelling, and the airframes used in that war were hurriedly fitted with the necessary internals to be able to complete their mission.

My Dad worked on the Vulcan in his time in the RAF.

So these are some shots of last week's Sunday race. My times got better as I mentioned, and there were some pretty good dances in the corners. Which I finally did succumb to settling in the rear of the pack but the other racers are having to work harder to get past and I don't get left so far behind when they do on this course. Small steps are still progress (kinda like learning new chops). The track for our season finale lends itself better to my bike's strong points, more open spaces and the turns aren't as tight so I don't have to battle the extra weight Miss Piggy carries (I don't mean "me" as that weight; although it does add in). 🤣
At the end of the race when the pressure's off it's always fun to acknowledge the photographer on the cool down lap, especially when they are a close friend.;)

^ Looks like a lot of fun @Daryl Jones.

I had to give up 2 wheels, at Mrs Daveys urging, she thought I was going to kill myself. I only rode dirt and sand though.
Still enjoy 4 wheels when the temperature is cooler like this mornings upper 70's in the desert.
This is just down my street, all BLM land. Can't wait for fall and winter temps and get some miles in.

I do all my off-roading from the driver's seat of my RZR side by side anymore. My body doesn't appreciate the jouncing of an ATV (sport or utility) anymore. When I worked as a dealer I even tried to avoid the ATV section and just do the SxS models of comparison tests to save my back and shoulders the punishment. Of course the OEM reps wouldn't go for that at all. "Ride them all or ride none" was the rule. Dirty job but somebody had to do it.🤣

Yep, I totally get it. Kidney belt all the time for this guy.
Theres a lot of RZR's around my parts. Its a good family activity to bring the kids along. In the fall and winter, there are caravans of families in SxS's all over town. Theres a good chunk of people that are into full blown LS motored sandcars, rock crawlers and desert trucks. Very big down here in the southwest.
While those are a blast, I'm not quite ready to give up swinging a leg over my ride and getting dirty, at least until my body says I cant anymore.
That dealer gig sounded cool. Definitely wouldn't have had to coax me to ride everything. 😉

I'm a railroad fan, model railroader in mostly 'N' scale, but also have HO sets for the 'N' scale, the crowning jewel of my collection is the Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 steam locomotive which set me back $500. Today, the real 4014 was on a weekend display stop about 70 miles west of me. As these are the end all be all for me, I made the trip. If you know anything on the history of these, they are engineering marvels and just beautiful, magnificent beasts.

This is a shot of the front end....
