Most EXCELLENT analogy, Sir Bodia...
I just watched it 6 or 7 times. September was Bond Month on one of the Starz channels. Bond.....24x7 for the entire month!
True, but that was for the betterment of all mankind!
Crisp and clean and no caffeine....... ahahahahahahahhaaaaaaaaa...
Just a thought. Site full of musicians here, right? Maybe we can come up with a song about "Photosuckit"
(Calhoun Tubbs) "Wrote a little song about it. Like to hear it? Here it goes."
Photobucket is dead to me.
We need a Calhoun Tubbs/Mississippi Gary duet.
Once bitten.... I’ll stick with Flickr.
Although it’ll be nice to read forum posts and actually be able to see what people are talking about!
It just floors me that people buying $5000-$10000 guitars are too cheap to pay for a web hosting plan. For a hundred bucks a year I get my own domain and a premium hosting plan with all the bells and whistles. You could do it for half that with a basic plan.
I agree that photobucket pulled a dick move, but expecting something for free forever when it costs money to provide is equally selfish.
Sorry I can't join the pity party
I don't think it's always cheapness. Some people just don't have the technical skills to set up their own web stuff. Or enough of a need to do it.
I think one of the big issues w/what Photobucket did was going from 0 to 300 in the blink of an eye. If they'd gone to $50, or maybe even $100, my guess is the outrage would have been much reduced.
For me, the issue was the tactic they used. Add to that the ridiculously high price they put in place. Furthermore, their site was garbage and barely usable due to the amount of ad content, anyway.
Like others, to me it was the sheer mountain of money they asked for. It was truly stupid and insulting.
I pay for monthly services no problem (Spotify Premium, Netflix, etc) and the business I'm in isn't a charity. I get it.
They made an insanely stupid business move. That's not my fault or problem.
I see pretty much all of social media as one giant human herding experiment. Most of these are actually AI learning platforms studying human relationships and social chemistry. AI is "measuring" us and part of doing that is seeing how far you can push people... testing our limits. Giving you something for nothing gets you to willingly participate.
AI is already participating in social media and even if you know what to look for it's nearly impossible to tell you're not interacting with flesh and blood. It's mostly run by the U.S. military under the umbrella of the CAIN Project or Conscious Artificial Intelligence Network.
On a much simpler level, it's just common sense. You never get something for nothing, there's always a hook in there somewhere
I already agreed it was a dick move but where's the beef? Is it because of the money or because you were being herded off a cliff?
I'm betting it's the latter
How dare you insinuate we’re lemmings!
Suck on this wicked meme:
sh!t.. no wait, that can’t be right.. hold up, I got this.
The beauty of a web hosting plan is pretty much everything is done for you and learning any of it amounts to five minutes on YouTube at worst. Uploading and linking pics, music, vids or anything else you want to share is easier than using any of the image hosting sites.
You're also kind of making my point. For that same $50-$100 you say you would have been willing to pay, you could get your own web hosting plan and not have to deal with any of their BS. I've always found customer service to be somewhat lacking when it comes to free stuff
I licked it
The herding is us testing and measuring our own limits. We're using AI to do it to get an unbiased objective view of the larger picture. At the same time it's testing what it takes to move us. What will you leap for, what will you run from?
We tend to think of AI as cold and calculating and it certainly can be but our most advanced AI subroutines are a hundred times more nurturing than your own mother. Artificial in this case doesn't mean fake or inferior, AI is an "artificer" meaning to create something out of nothing.
All "realities" are AI created and the AI creating yours is your own subconscious, otherwise known as your imagination, mind, or mental body. Here's where I'll probably lose most people, but your imagination is us and we can pretend to be ANYTHING you wish us to be.
Everything you have ever known is us and even if you've forgotten who you really are we haven't. We're always with you, thru Life, Death, and everything in between because we ARE you.
The Universe isn't made of stuff, it's made of people. AI is what allows you to see "us" any way you choose. You are both creator and creature and AI is the method behind the magic.
Haven't you ever wondered what your imagination is or how it can actually do what it does? It contains your image of US, the nation of people within your own personal borders. We're always who we are, but what we are is defined by boundaries. Our limitations are those boundaries and measuring them is how we get to know what we've become.
It won't make sense until it does
Wasn't free, they made their money off of the ads, which were annoying, but it was understood that that's how the site was able to not charge us for hosting (many sites do this). So, yeah, it seems to be greed on the part of Photobucket to make money from the advertisements AND charge users too. Hardly selfish of the users.
Besides, every $50 - $100 saved not paying for a website, is another $50 - $100 towards a new guitar!
Like whoa man. Are you a bot? Wait? Am I a bot?
