Award winning tattoo artist ... Amateur guitarist
I went out last night to see a couple of my friends play. They, as I have said before, are the reason I started really playing guitar. They were the first "real" people I knew that were actually good at playing music. Not just that kid who's mom forced him into piano lessons, that sucked, because he never wanted to be there to begin with. They were in a band called Planet Purpose when we were in high school. They played a number of things. But the main thing they did was transcribe, and play Phish songs. (this was long before you could just find it on line tabbed out or a tutorial on youtube. They did it by ear). Anyway, they broke up in college (They went to Berklee) because they "Sounded too much like Phish". So they went on to other projects. Well, now they are middle aged, and it was time to put the band back together. And wouldn't you know it, they embraced it and decided to do Phish covers with this project. This was the debut, at an open mic, that was walking distance from my house. I didn't play, but I went to see if it was as good as I remembered them being with this genre. Well....judge for yourselves. My camera work is shoddy here (blame the liquor). And my battery was going beat during the third song so it cut off a couple of times....I tried to stitch it together after the fact. . .but it still isn't that good. Also, the guitar player is the the guy who is giving lessons to my daughter. Trying to get her those Berklee fundamentals on the cheap because he is a friend.
Anyway.....this is a facebook post. So I am not sure how many of you will be able to see it. And, I am not sure how long the time stamp will last before it disappears. But, I figured I would leave this here. It is almost a half hour, but if you like Phish, you will probably keep listening....even if it is just to see if it is CLOSE to the actual band.
