Have a restore project that needs the phase one tuners. 94, D & G strings share the same 1/2 mounting holes. Replacement are stupid rare ...and expensive. Wondered if there are any tuners that would match the exact foot print. They don't have to be locking, but.. Looked at the Schaller M-6, the screw holes come out the wrong side? Thanks in advance for any ideas.

You could always go this route

Just replaced the winged tuners on my '96 CU 22 with Schallers. You need the M6 180 version, either top-locking or non-locking. I went with the latter. The "180" stands for the screw hole orientation, which is 180 degrees from the edge of the headstock--basically a straight line. And you have to grind or cut two of the tuner holes to accommodate the single screw for the D & G tuners. I used a Dremel and it took about 5 minutes total. Three bonuses for making the change are, (a) the Schallers weight about 1/3 lb less, (b) it's easier to change strings, and (c) I can tune my guitar!

See my post below this for before and after pics.

Looks great!

Go ahead and box up those old wings and I'll give you my address. Happy to dispose of them for you!

Um, yeah, yeah, that's the ticket!

You know, that '96 CU 22 is my favorite PRS. Plain top and moons but it plays and sounds great, and as an added bonus weighs 6.7 lbs. In the unlikely event I decide to move it I should probably include those tuners.

Hey man, I have a 1996 PRS CE 22 and I’m dreading these wings. What post size did you get to fit? When I went to order I got 3+3, large metal buttons & then it asks for post size. I’m in the dark.... HELP
