Hey, there! I'm looking to replace the stock tuners on my PRS SE Custom 24 for a set of Phase III locking tuners. Just wondering...has anyone ever done this themselves? Has anyone ever let Guitar Center replace tuners on their PRS? I'm not sure what to do, and I would rather let someone else replace the tuners than myself. Also, does anyone know of any other TIP locking tuners for the PRS SE Custom 24 other than the Phase III's? I'm looking for some gold ones (I have a tobacco sunburst guitar, I think it'd look great). Came across these: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...e=&network=g&gclid=CPb1keGg9MICFSIV7AodHGUA2Q. They're significantly cheaper than the PRS Phase III's. Anyone know anything good or bad about Grover tuners? Any real reason to get Grover over PRS tuners?

Thanks!
Peter

Can"t help you much there except to say that my SE Custom 24 has the stock tuners and I have no problem with them staying in tune. I changed string gauges to the PRS 9.5 set, but after massaging the nut slots, tuning is fine even with tremolo use. Sorry, :dontknow:.

I've never dealt with Phase III's but have installed Phase II's on several SE guitars. Love those tuners. If you decide to use Guitar Center at least they will insure your guitar just in case they were to botch the drilling (it happens). And they do leave holes on the back of the head stock from the old pilot holes. The stock tuners do an adequate job but the nut on the SE's are the trouble makers. They are only cut and slotted for stock string gauge. Anything for than 10's will pinch and be hard pressed to stay in tune. If you don't wanna go the Phase III route, the Grover rotomatic mini's and Schaller M6's at direct install replacements, no mod. I like the rotomatics just bc they have holes big enough to accommodate bigger strings. Schaller's struggle with anything above 54's.
