Phase ii Locking Tuners not smooth when turning (brand new CE24)

Wow, that’s appalling of the tech who cut the nut slots. If he’d used a jig, or even stacked feeler gauges, the slits would have been the correct height and dead straight. Unfortunately, many techs eyeball things rather
I know right?! I was super unhappy recieving a brand new CE24 in the condition mine came in.

I didn't know people used jigs to cut nut slots, I had only seen the stacked feeler gauge trick! That would make it super simple! Almost seems doable on my own with a jig haha 😅 I've done my own setups for years and widened nut slots a bit with files but never filed all of the nut slots for a whole new strings gauge set. I wish I was more comfortable with it so I could have done the nut replacement on my own. But luckily Sweetwater is paying for the PTC to replace the nut so it's less hassle for me I guess! haha

I'm crossing my fingers hoping that the PTC will be able to restore it its former glory haha.

The guitar got to the PTC on the 7th but I haven't gotten any updates about it being on the bench yet.

I was getting daily update emails all last week, and then this week the update emails stopped. I'm not sure what to think but since i've only heard great things about the PTC, i'm just crossing my fingers and hoping they get the guitar on the bench asap!

Stewmac sells a DVD which teaches you how to make nuts. I started making them by removing nuts from my guitars and copying them exactly, but I bought the Stewmac DVD a few years ago.

The PTC must be very busy, but as they started by emailing you often, I think you should send them a message, because it has been two weeks since you last heard from them…is that correct? Good luck with your guitar. Did you say it’s a CE24? I have an unusual CE24 Swamp Ash Special, in which I recently installed a Gen II tremolo. I’ve tried some high end trems too.
