I have a 1989 CE24 and my phase I tuners have never worked properly, I don't mind the cam lock wings, it's just the terrible backlash and sticking. I have tried to adjust and lubricate them, but they have been this way from day one, maybe I just got a bad set? I also do not want to spend $300 to have PRS rebuild them with PH II's, and also do not want to drill new holes... I would prefer better than 12:1 ratio than the current PH I M6's, and the only locking direct replacement I can find is the Schaller 5502LK top mounts (12:1), (try finding these in the US...) Anyone else not happy with the PH I's ? I am not sure why they do not work as smoothly as the non-locking M6's that I have on another guitar? I have many guitars and these tuners do feel the worst of all, although they do lock the string well... I am also considering trying to rebuild them myself with PH II's, but not really sure how to disassemble them without damaging the back covers? any other ideas?
