our band didn't gig tonite, so i went out with a bud for a couple of brews.
man, i really don't drink very often or very much, but tonite i did have a couple extra beer.

anyway, this is my peeve.

called a cab.
the driver pulls up and stops six feet in front of me. wtf?
why would he do that?
not a big deal, but in the real world it did affect his tip and left me scratching my head a little.

now, the really BIG one. i've beat on this before, but it really, really bugs me.
why is gram parsons not in the rrhof.
disgrace.
he did invent "country rock."

Cuz the RRHOF is a joke achievement managed by a bunch of rich dudes who vote for their favorites every year. Just look at everyone who isn't in yet, and how long it took for some of the inductees to finally get in. Then go listen to some of the inductees talk about how badly they were treated either in general by the RRHOF or at the induction ceremony...

I never bought into the RR Hall of Lame. It's nothing but a corporate fraternity run by fat, balding millionaires who probably never owned an MC5 or Grand Funk Railroad album in their lives but want to be high priests of what rock and roll should be according to their spreadsheets. And the fact that they allow rappers to be inducted further shows how out of touch these pinheads are. I can't believe that any band with any integrity and self-respect would want to be associated with this travesty, let alone be inducted into it. Any one that truly buys into or believes in this piece of $hit should have their Rock and Roll card revoked for life.

Totally agree that he should be in! I also concur with others thoughts on the legitimacy of the RRHoF. That doesn't keep me from watching the induction show, though. Sometimes funny speeches, and some good performances. Watched this years yesterday. Not bad. No fan of Stern, but he did have a great speech for inducting Bon Jovi (really? Bon Jovi?). Totally unprofessional, crude, and spot on!

It's an interesting Museum, but I agree about the questionable choices of inductees. My biggest gripe about the museum is that it is not easy to navigate, and really doesn't follow a logical pattern. It's clear that Gibson has had a large influence on what is displayed, and sold in the shop, as the only guitars for sale were $5k LP's, and a good majority on display were Gibson's, if I remember correctly.

We're twins, cuz I did the exact same thing yesterday. Some of the performances were pretty good but after watching the Moody Blues it seemed like the old folks home of Rock:p.

Stern was exactly as you said, a little over the top, sometimes floundering, sometimes funny, but really had a love for the band & Rock in general.

I was just watching the first hour of this year’s program. Loved the tribute performances to Tom Petty and Sister Rosetta Tharp. The Dire Straits induction was effing bizarre. Apparently the RRHOF reneged on a promise to pay travel expenses for the brothers Knopfler and they said eff it, we’re out then. And with Mark Knopfler not coming, nobody could be found to give an induction speech or tribute performance, so the three band members who did show up were basically left to induct themselves.

When they started inducting rappers, I quit even acknowledging them. Now, before I piss off the rap fans again, this has NOTHING to do with rap at all except IT IS NOT ROCK AND ROLL! Dave Mustaine, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck don't expect to be in a "Country Music Hall of Fame" and Garth Brooks doesn't expect to be in the Rap/Hip Hop Hall of Fame. You start putting rappers in there, then change the name to something else. It is no longer "rock and roll" anything.

Hey, wasn't even thinking it when I posted all that, but you just found a pet peeve.

Hey, I agree. Any RRHOF that doesn't have The Beatles as their first inductee has no credibility.
JMO, but here are whom the first five inductees should have been.

1. Beatles.
2. Elvis Presley.
3. Kinks
4. Clapton
5. Hendrix

have to fit chuck berry in there somewhere.
and little walker and the stones.
but, it's just too much.

Yeah, but I've owned, and still own a Grand Funk Railroad album.

gram parsons is cool tho, should have replaced vince gill in the eagles.

I've never thought that vince was a good fit with the eagles. him and henley are just to similar.
gram would have been a much better fit, except he's been dead since 1973 ...
