The Rockfoot pedalboard I ordered arrived today, and gotta say, it's really, really nice! It's beautifully constructed, and even the underside of the top panel that holds the pedals is nicely finished (it's actually hinged). Very nice attention to detail!

Of course, with this board having an extra row or two that my old board lacked, and with its inputs and outputs on jacks on the top, my current cables weren't quite right for the job. So I needed to place an order with Mark at Lava Cable and get some custom lengths and the right plugs.

Until the cables come in, I decided just to set a few of my pedals up on the board, instead of velcro-ing everything in place, and check the connections. Thus, the pic below is not the finished deal, it's temporary. Still, it looks pretty nice and I thought you guys might like a pic:

After I get the right cables, there'll be an expression pedal or wah on the board, the buffer will be fed from one of the inputs on the board, I'll add my bypass switcher, and I'll also probably stick a compressor on as well.

Dang that is NICE!!!! On a side note. only one pic. If this was a singlecut of "Hammer of God" there would be more pics!!! :vroam:

Well...it's a board...with a lid...looks like a suitcase, the bottom is the same as the top but without the Rockfoot logo plate. Two black metal latches in front, two hinges on the rear that allow the top to lift off. I didn't take a picture with the pedal surface opened up, and I'd have to take everything off to do that as I haven't done the velcro mounting yet.

The tolex is very nicely applied with no gaps, it's tight to the wood. Not much more to say, really. In terms of placement of jacks and power inlet, I like that they're on top of the board. While this doesn't allow the lid to close when everything's hooked up, it does keep moisture and dirt out when it's time to leave my studio and go somewhere for a session or gig. I've seen them on the sides, but I think this layout is a better design for traveling, and works fine for me.

Here it is closed:

Ooo, purdy. :top:

I'd have that beauty scuffed up and covered in dirt and foot prints in no time. But it will look stylin' in your studio.

Man you can be hard to mess with lol

Looks like a decent amount of space too

This one's 28" x 15", plenty of space for me, much more useable space than my home made slab of a board that was 34" x 16", because the power supply and power cables are tucked underneath the top surface. They make them standard in a bunch of widths and will also do custom orders if you need something deeper, or want a wah shelf that isn't angled, etc..

I'll have even more room once I tuck the buffer box inside, but I need the longer cables I've ordered in order to make the connections with everything. So I'm waiting to finish wiring it up.

The one I bought was already finished. I liked it, and figured why wait for one to be built? Saved a few bucks, that way, too!

I think that is what the museum folks call a "patina." ;)

Seriously, I'm OCD enough to want to get a case for my case. But I won't. On general principle.

Edit: Then again, I might! :top:

Edit 2: Imagine how embarrassing it would be to take a case out of a case. It'd be like those Russian Matryoshka dolls. There would be snickers from studio guys every time I opened it. I would not be able to play.

Edit 3: Then again, I can't play anyway.

Man you can be hard to mess with lol

That's what my brother, who constantly messes with me just for his own amusement, has always said!

Very neat Les
I have a home made pedal board wooden case with the same concept albeit it's painted
black and not clad with fabric
Damn now i'm googling this company to check the models... I wonder if they make one with FBJ color...mmmm

Thanks Serg (and everyone!).

With your mad skillz, Serg, you could make one of these in LV fabric. Now, I know you don't use very many pedals, but what the heck. You'd be stylin'. ;)

I have a bunch left over from that Soapbar project, if I could decide what I'm doing pedal wise you can bet I'll be on it!

OTOH, my son just picked up an old leather covered suitcase at a flea market in LA when I was there, to put a pedalboard inside. It's kinda cool, and the idea inspired me to get this, which is more functional for me and as a bonus, came without a stanky 50 year old suitcase stench. So there's that.

Plus, Billy Gibbons was at a stand at the flea market dressed to the nines, buying leather guitar straps for his band. When I kind of gestured "check this out, it's Billy Gibbons" to my son, he looked at me, and said, "Yeah, it is, try not to have a heart attack, Dad."

Like I'd be that guy. The ambulance arrived really fast afterward, too. :top:

The whole Vuitton thing instantly connected with me when I saw your pedalboard 'cause it's been on my mind lately.

There is a guy in Chicago that makes these beautiful hardwood and covered, road cases and guitars cabinets. When they are closed up they look like luggage, with rounded corners and metal edging, that appear inspired by those old Mesa Road-Ready cabinets... How Bangin'! would a 2X12 cab that looked like a LV footlocker be? OMG! I could walk into any five star hotel in the world with that, my white 25th ani. guitar case, and a Gucci rack...

Just in case I need to do that someday.

I love the old Mesa Road-Ready cabs, and had one for my Bass 400+. They were probably a safe place to hide in case of a nuclear war. Just in case you need to do that someday, too. ;)

Why not take your fabric to this guy and have him make you something?

I don't have enough for it. I was lucky enough to find an old garment bag on CL for the guitar, but I only have enough for smaller projects... and the numerous beer koozies I've been making have dampened my style.

I can just imagine you doing that...SRV style with a full-length fur coat and cool black hat.

Ahh1 The power of positive thought! The minute it happens I'll think of you, being the first person to will it into happening because of your brain power.

What if you used it for an insert, like the tan part of my pedal board case, but used another tolex for the larger areas that are black on mine?
