Does anyone know the exact specs of Paul's personal Private Stock guitar? He shares it with us in the video below:

I am interested in the exact tone woods he chose for this guitar. The color is simply stunning as well. He describes it as a "dirty violion" color.

Thank you very much for your time.

He gave the specs of an "if I was building" guitar in an online chat a few months ago...I wrote them down and if I can find it when I get home I will post( although SOMEONE out there probably has it also:beer:)

One more video of Paul and his personal guitar. This is truly an amazing instrument!!

If this is the one with the deep buckle rash, it's a cool guitar. He wouldn't sell it to me.

Here's what I noted from Paul...I think it was a live chat earlier this year; someone asked him what he'd pick for a Private Stock:
Chaltecoco neck
European maple top
African blackwood fretboard
pickups from the graphite Paul's Guitar
a thin nitro finish and a 25"scale.

Hope that helps!

Paul's personal guitar is constantly changing. At the 30th shindig, I noted to one of the PRS guys that there was some wood with Paul's name on it, and he said, "oh yeah, that's definitely probably for Paul, we're constantly making guitars for him", and I get the impression that there are certain parameters that always stay the same (scale, no. o' frets, electronics configuration, amongst others) and certain ones that are constantly changing. I kind of get the impression he's always trying out new tone woods. I also get the impression that people are constantly absconding with his guitars. (Not stealing, necessarily, just ... being lent and never returning.)

So good luck with that. By the time you get it made, he'll probably have moved on to something else.

That's not to say that he doesn't have a favourite.

Thank you all for your feedback. I really appreciate it. I feel like I have all of the specs with exception to the private stock color. Can anyone share with me the PS Color of the guitar in this video?

I can't find the color anywhere. Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Looks like Yellow Tiger with weird/poor lighting to me...

Anyone else?

Does somebody know why he doesn't use solid RW neck on his personal guitars anymore?
I've already asked him, when I met him on one of his workshop tours, but he's quite good at not answering questions he doesn't like ;)

I'd guess Paul found something he likes better. Simple as that, really. Might be worth reframing the question as "What do you look for in a neck for your personal guitar, and why? Has that evolved over time?" Something to take it away from being a fetish over particular materials or an implied criticism of Paul for changing his mind.

I played his personal guitar, the amber dragon one with the BRW neck, at a NAMM show back in 1998 or so. I liked that guitar a lot. But it was also interesting to me because at the time I was working at the Klein Guitars booth, and Klein had been using Honduran rosewood necks for several years at that point. Regardless of how Paul came to try rosewood necks in PRS guitars (and hey, Fender did some back in the day too!) I like that he and the guitars continue to evolve.

I still prefer Honduran to Brazilian for a rosewood neck, fwiw, mainly because I like how it sounds a little better. Also for feel reasons. The Honduran has a satiny feel that I love. Not only do I still have a Klein electric with a Honduran RW neck, that's what's in my PS #3825 KingsleyDGT.

The first event I attended at the factory (way back in the unofficial PRS forum days), Paul's personal guitar was Dragon I, which did have a rosewood neck. He carried it in a gig bag and casually tossed it to one of the guys on our group.
