Paul autographed my guitar- how can I preserve it?

The man himself was at Sweetwater when I purchased my guitar. He was gracious enough to sign it (kind of like having a signed Jackson Pollock!). I could just order a new plastic part and have it replace the signed one, but I would rather keep it on if possible. He signed it in a kind of gold pen- here is a picture.

I'd like something to permanently clear coat it without damaging the signature.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ted

Remove the cover and spray it with clear spray paint. I used SEM clear spray from an auto parts store and had no issues.

A clear paint? Like a clear coat? Can you link an example please? I know some kinds will make the signature run, from what I read.

Thank you!

Clear coat will do it. I did 5 or 6 light coats on mine. I went with Testors Clear Coat spray can from the model section at Hobby Lobby. I figure if it's made to work on plastic models, it should be good for cavity covers.
