I love the neck on my SE 245, which is listed as Wide/Fat (which is now called 'Pattern' as I understand) but can't stand the necks on the 594's. I thought that there wasn't supposed to be much of a difference between Pattern and PV but there does seem to be some.

What has your experience been between these two neck shapes?

Not all 594 necks feel big.

My first one yes. My second one is perfect. Not as perfect as my Paul’s, but not as big feeling as my first 594.

Both 2018’s. The first one my friend now has (he had big envy issues over it, though he already had a Hollowbody). I made him a deal and he went for it. Then I went shopping for a PRS (my favorite thing)!

When we play together I use my Paul’s Guitar. Both blue-ish guitars. We’re the blue brothers.

Wide/Fat and Pattern are different. Pattern has a more soft V shape on the lower frets, especially.

Pattern Vintage is not a whole lot different from Pattern. To me it add just the right amount of extra meat in just the right places for a thumb-wrapper like me.

SE Wide/Fat is kind of its own beast and can vary more than the Core guitars.

Kinda semi related but when I first got into guitar I went for the slimmer necks because I have smaller hands. I just figured everything would be easier to reach.

My second acoustic and my 594 introduced me to beefier necks and I quickly developed a preference for them. My new LP Custom has a "medium chunky" neck and it just feels a lot better than the slim taper neck on the Standard I traded in for it.

I didn't think I would, but I like the beef :)

After some time on acoustics, growing up, I thought electrics all had “power steering.”

In my twenties I was after a slim supple neck, but couldn’t afford a Byrdland. I didn’t like those real skinny necks like on some Peaveys.

I finally realized a neck could be big and if the action was low it didn’t matter.

In my forties and fifties I liked big ol’ necks. They made my hands hurt less.

Now in my arthritic sixties I’m OK with medium C, but don’t like ‘em too fat anymore.

Exactly where I'm at now (with RA) -- I love PV, especially in rosewood. In my younger years I played skinny shredder necks happily. In my 30s I lived on superstrats, can't play them comfortably now.

Pattern thin makes my fretting hand cramp up in under a minute, but the other two.... I'm good all day. Blows my mind how those decimals make such a difference!
