I am seriously thinking about changing the pickup for a set of P90s in a CE24 semi hollow.. I don't know. Ive never used P90s. I grew up playing my LP...and before the PRS I really enjoyed my telecaster.. It just seems there is a sound I am looking to get out of this guitar . Sometimes Im good with the sound and somedays I'm not... guess if I don't like it I can change it back .. no since in worrying about it ...guitars are made for fun !

It’s a different sound, but a cool one. If you do a search on the forums, Les has posted a comparison between standard humbuckers and P90s in his 594s. It’s shows pretty well what’s similar and different.

I highly recommend Seymour Duncan Antiquity P90s if you take the plunge. They sound great.

P90’s in a CE Semi Hollow sounds pretty interesting to me - I say give it a shot. As you said, easy enough to reverse.

Yeah, I’d be curious to hear how they sound in there.

Great I will try to find that post ....as far as the P90s I was thinking the Lindy Fralin noiseless .. they are Humbucker size and would fit. I just don't see how I could get the Antiquity pups to fit

My SE Zach Myers came used with Tone Rider p90s. They're humbucker-sized. They sound very good, the sustain and bite from the bridge are something else.

I'm generally a big fan of p90s, I have three sets of them and they really do have some of the best features of single-coil and humbucker combined. Ironically, these Tone Riders are the ones I'm looking to swap out, simply because I already have p90s in a Tele Deluxe and an Epi Casino. I chose this PRS specifically because I don't currently have any guitars with humbuckers and I wanted the short scale with humbuckers for a thicker sound.

Harmonic Design Z90’s are a humbucker-sized P90 and they sounded great in my CE22. Big, fat, clear, and brawny. I swapped them out for some Kinman P90-buckers which are noiseless and also sound great but different than the Harmonic Designs. The Kinman’s are ruder, snarlier, and brighter. Not sure which one I like best.

Fralin makes HB-sized p90s that are supposed to be some of the best out there.

Fralin makes great pickups, and I’ve used several Fralin Strat and Tele sets with good result. I haven’t encountered a “noiseless” P90 set that sounds like a real vintage P90, though I’ve not yet tried Lindy’s version. Maybe he has the magic. I’ll be interested to see what you think of them, if you go that way.

I recently purchased a three pup P90 Custom 22, it sounds awesome. I'm very embarrassed that I didn't try P90 pups before. Totally different than anything thing else I own. It's not the end all be all but great to have to get unique tones. I play it everyday as my MEV. According to Ish Guitars the P90's in my PRS are made by PRS. PRS used to use Seymore Duncan P90's. I have not tried Fralin P90's but have used many other pups made by him and loved them so I wouldn't hesitate to try them.

I put some custom wound humbucker sized P-90's form Zhangbucker in my SE Santana. Made the guitar perfect for me. But, I also know and love P-90's.

I have a couple of buds who have some of the soapbar P-90's from PRS and they sound great!

I had a set of Lollar Single for Hum in a 2002 CE24. This video sold me on those pickups. That was a fun guitar.

Ok. I am liking it. I’m still on the fence between PAFs or P90s. My guitar plays great I just haven’t warmed up to it like should. Seems like the stock pickup are nice but the seem a bit hifi some days

I have a set of Fralin P92's in a CS336 - they are true to P90's strong upper mids and nice airy single coil-type top end - in a HB noise cancelling size pickup.

I just got finished dropping one of these in the neck of my SG. I'm still in the honeymoon phase but this pickup isn't going anywhere. I highly recommend it.

They also make a non hum cancelling one too.

Yeah. I listened to those online and like them...but Im wondering the reason I was thinking to replace the original PU's was the Hifi type sound... I wonder if the P92's would have the same effect

Big big fan of P90’s, I have them in several of my PRS’s. My favorites are Duncan Antiquities.

The P92's are very true to a P90 mid-forward basic voice - I'd say more low-mids and mid-mids than a humbucker and certainly a F-voiced strat single coil, the top end retains a single coil type sparkle, but a pinch darker than a strat kind of single coil - yet they still have that certain something that a single coil will have on the top end that eludes most humbuckers - to me they are just a more mid-focused single coil voice, as a P90 would be expected - so I would not call that a HiFi sound but more of a Fat sound. It's subjective I know, I'm lucky enough to have Gibson P90's w/Ilitch Cavity SSC as well as Suhr S-Classic w/V60Lp set and a factory SSC; those are the single coil voice references I have handy and trying to translate into descriptive words.
