I want a P24, but grabbing a used Custom 24 and throwing some Graphtech Ghost saddles would be significantly cheaper. Has anyone done that? Is the difference worth almost double the price?
I own both. Yes, the p24 is wwwwwaaaaayyyyy better. I only use the ghost one to blend in a touch of twang and spank to the electric tone. The PRS/Baggs piezo is far superior Graphtech. If you want rich, convincing acoustic timbres, then get the p24. The p24 with coil tap gives me the full monty. Go try one.
I understand LR Baggs redesigned their preamp for the PRS P22 to allow for 6 individual channels instead of a "summing" preamp. The newer preamp sounded so good, PRS started putting it in all the hollowbody guitars, etc. I own a semi-hollow P22 and it is the best guitar I've ever played. The heavier the strings, the better. I play 11s on that guitar in standard tuning.
