I thought I read here in the forum somewhere these are rebranded 53-10's. Is this true? If not can someone please elaborate on these pickups. I came across a P 22 new old stock with these pickups and want to now more about what I might be getting.

uncovered 57/08 i believe. bet way to check is to pull out one and look at back. I have a 2012 and they are uncovered 57/08's

I just bought a p22 from 2012... i was told they are 53/10 pick ups. the tag says "P-22" for the pick ups... either way they sound really good.

Thank you, no doubt they sound good. I am going to call PRS and find out. I will post back with what I learn. It is obviously one of them, 53-10's or 57-08's. Thank you everyone.

I believe there was a change from 53/10s to 57/08s late-2012 sometime, because of PRS not being able to reliably source the wire for 53/10s any longer.

They announced this change with the 2013 models. I bought my 2012 Experience P22 in early January 2013 and they hadn't announced the change yet. I was expecting it though because you could no longer buy the 53/10s separately. I really wanted the 53/10 pickups.

Sounds right. I believe when the change occurred and they weren't able to put the 5310's in anymore, that's when they started calling them P22 pickups. I'm not sure why they didn't just say they were 5708's...maybe there was a time that both pickups were going into guitars at the same time and rather than risk screwing up the hang tags... I don't know, I'm grasping at straws here.

My P22 was finished right before 2012 Experience and it says P22 pickups on the hang tag and on the modcat.

They've always called them "P22" as far as I know, I've had 2 sets of uncovered ones pulled from P22s (with P22 labels on the back) and they had exactly the same resistance as some covered 53/10s I have.

There was some talk (from Juka) about them having different phasing (or alignment of magnets or something) so they would work with the piezo, hence the "P22" moniker.
