Owning Both a CU 24 and CE 24

I have a CU 24 that I love and is never leaving me =D.

I'm considering buying a CE 24. It is an older model, not the newer versions, but still has mahogany body and maple top. Main difference would be the maple neck on the CE 24 and the bolt on.

I'm not a huge fan of owning guitars that are redundant, although I do love PRS. Do you think I'd find the CE 24 too similar in tone and feel to my CU? Or would the difference be enough for me to justify owning the two different models?

I know this is a hard question, but looking for perspective from those who have both. Thanks!

Jeff

It will be brighter but similar. For the same money you can find a more varied sound. Core Mira comes to mind. SC for just a little more.

Like AP515 and dogrocketp said, the CE-24 will have a little more snap, and maybe a tad brighter than the Cu24. I wouldn’t call having one redundant.

I'd say maple vs. mahogany neck is where I think the 'snappniess' comes from. All the waveform/sustain analyses I've seen seem to point to neck joint being a minimal part of it, in fact with more sustain on the bolt.

Go for it, its different enough and as far as being redundant I have 2 PRS that are identical minus the color and they actually sound and feel a little different...
