My wife has has both shoulders RC repaired in the past. On one side the screw they put in to hold the tendons has worked itself free. Now she goes around bragging she has a screw loose. More than one in my opinion. She also blew out the tip of her clavicle falling off a motorcycle at 5 mph. That surgery didnt take properly, so the just took the screws out all together and let it heal as is.

I personally have never had any kind of major surgery like that. I bet recovery is going to suck, if you are used to doing things right handed. It sucks for me, because i am ambidextrous and am so used to using 2 hands most of the time.

Sorry to hear this, but hope it goes well and quick!

And, we've all been married for years, so it doesn't take much imagination... :( :p

I hope the surgery goes well, Steve. My son had shoulder surgery a few years ago, (mostly) did his rehab, and seems to be just dandy now.

X-Rays at the Dr's today show the break healed very nicely. The cast has been replaced with a soft splint, (the equivalent of a Bowling Glove). The Doc told me to exercise it for the next three weeks or so and then we can talk about going back to work. The hand is very stiff from being stuck in one position. only real pain is from stretching the tendons and muscles back out again.

Picked up the HB2 today to see how it felt. I've got to admit there was a bit of pain in my hand as the tendons and muscles stretched back out. It took a few minutes to get a comfortable grip, but I was able to hold a D chord long enough to record a 30 second loop. Then I was free to noodle around the neck like i used to. I gave it a rest after about 20 minutes or so thanks to a cramp in the back of my hand and forearm. Tomorrow I will be back at it again.

Feel better, Steve. Please heal easily, quickly and safely. Don't forget to keep the wound site clean and change the bandage as required.

Take your time, and don’t over do it and have a set back. Listen to the pain. It will tell you NO at some point.

Dr's appointment today. Still off work at least until June, need PT and Pain Management to regain flexability and strength. No more brace required, which is a bit of a positive.

Glad to hear things are progressing. PT isn't fun, but it's hugely beneficial.

It helps that the Lead Therapist and some of the others are easy on the eyes. I've been to this place before for my back, so I won't object to a little pain.;)

No argument here. And between my wife, my son, and myself, we're such frequent fliers at the local PT place, they call to see if we're not okay.

How strong is the hand? Are you doing any, or are you even able too do any, grip strengtheners or the like? My arthritis continues to get worse, but I do about 20 squeezes of my "extra firm" grip squeezer thingies, then on the last one hold it for about 5-10 seconds. Then I gently stretch for a couple minutes. I play for 10-15 minutes then stretch my hand more firmly once it's warmed up a bit.

I can play ok now without the brace. There is still some pain in my thumb and wrist, its tolerable for about 15 minutes of play.
