... Now I own the Big 3 again. Axe FX 3, Helix, and Kemper. Always said off they came out with a pedalboard version I'd get one again!

Forgot how really awesome sounding some of my profiles really were!!! Nifty little piece of electronics shoved into a pedal this size!!

They're all a bit rich for me, but I do keep an eye on them, see what the progress is. I'm impressed by the sounds online I've heard of the axe FX 3 so far, sounds very natural.
I'm tempted by an atomic firebox to play around with as they are dirt cheap and I like the idea that they are really basic with not much options. Just a few dials like a normal amp. Maybe I'll treat myself this Christmas if I can save a little.

Atomics sound decent! Good first timer to get your feet wet. I've heard that helix hx stomp is a good little affordable box.

I know every time I crank up a tube amp I'm like "what the frigg am I doing this for..."

I was a very staunch tube snob years ago!
I have owned some VERY nice amps over the last 40+ years

Yeah the sounds of the atomic online are ok. Some demos are better than others, though I'm never really convinced that it is a real actual amp I'm hearing, whereas some of the axe FX 3 demos I've heard I'd never have known it wasn't a real amp if I couldn't see what was going on.
The hx stomp is also tempting, and a good size and feature set for a first unit, but the firebox is considerably cheaper again. The good thing about these small units is that they sound like their big counterparts, so although you're missing out on features, you're not missing sounds quality

I Love my axe-iii but would like to play with them all at some point.
How do you all 3, different use cases?

My ax8 has become my acoustic rig, looping etc and axe fx for electric.

I switch between the 3 about like changing underwear, just not as frequently. It also allows me to leave one rig at church in weeks that I have Thursday church practice, Friday club gig, and Sunday morning services. I never have to sacrifice tone quality. The third can be more dedicated to studio recording, etc...

One unit may also force you to tweak one of your tones in another unit to dial it in a little tighter...

Then there's just plain the sky's the mother freaking limit for what you can come up with for tones/presets!!!

A Hughes & Kettner Triamp Mark III costs almost as much as these 3 model boxes combined, and I can do it and many more!

That's weird. These things are like rabbits....one showed up at my place Tuesday, as well!

I've got the Atomic Amplifire 12, and really like it. Good product, especially at the price point. I only bought the Stage because I told myself when they (Kemper) added a PC/Mac editing feature, I'd jump back in. Now that it's in a floor board, I'm psyched to have one, again (had the toaster a couple of years ago).

I'd offer to send you the AA-12 to check out, but I believe you're in the UK? You'd get socked with Duty fees if I tried. On the other hand, if you want to low down on the Firebox, hit up DreamTheaterRules. I believe he has one. I know he's got the 3 and the 12. He loves his, and is the one that turned me onto Atomic.

Thanks for the offer, though like you say not practical for sending to the UK. That's ok, the firebox is like £270 new here which really isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things. I might just have to wait for a month free from other pesky bills! I like the idea of the firebox for my usage, no real options to get hung up on, just basically 2 single channel amps in a small box where I can pick what those amps are.

Always wanted a TriAmp -the Lifeson version of course! Haven’t really found a profile I like of it yet (or the regular TriAmp) yet. With all my gear in off site storage, kinda moot right now anyway...

I had the 2x12 combo version of the original Triamp in the 2002-2003 era...
