Tonight is the official opening of The Audience, a play about Queen Elizabeth’s history of meetings with the Prime Ministers.

As previously mentioned, it was written by the author of the award winning Netflix series, ‘The Crown’.

My granddaughter plays Young Elizabeth.

I was blown away by this video released for the opening, it’s really well done. Omi is in it.

I hope you wear your cowboy boots as the appropriate counterproposal to a story in her majesty the Queen's English (or in nowadays His majesty the King's), @László!
Good idea!

My wife, in an attempt to discourage me from doing that, will say, “We’re not going to a rodeo, we’re going to a play!”

I’ll just tell her to saddle up the horse…and will wear the boots!

Good reviews including Chicago Tribune. Nice mention of Omi in this one:

“as well as a young Elizabeth (Omi Lichtenstein in an impressive turn) to whom the adult Queen can relate to on occasion.”

Great reviews!!

“Omi Lichtenstein, a poised young actress who plays Elizabeth’s younger self (alternating with Elin Joy Seiler) also deserves mention.”

Another one!

“Morgan deftly reveals the lonely, almost melancholic, aspect of a life lived in perpetual service to the nation, especially with interactions with her childhood self, portrayed excellently at Drury Lane by Omi Lichtenstein.”

Another great review and write up for my Omi:

“The ensemble also benefits greatly from Omi Lichtenstein, who plays Elizabeth as a child. Morgan's device of having the older Elizabeth interact with her younger self humanizes the monarchy by providing a window into the privacy of her formative years, the adult and child Elizabeth each making the other deeper, and more sympathetic.”

Not bad for a 12 year old!!

I have to share these reviews, they’re pretty darn wonderful.

“Particularly resonant are scenes she shares with her younger self, the precocious child who would become Queen for 70 years. Young Elizabeth is played by the thoughtful young actor Omi Lichtenstein, who alternates the role with Elin Joy Seiler.”

Shaw Local:

“The use of flashbacks with the younger Elizabeth - brilliantly portrayed by Omi Lichtenstein (alternating in the role with Eliin Joy Seiler) - is not just trite or charming but emotionally evocative of her path and obligation to the crown.”

That’s incredible, Les! I know how proud a grandfather feels watch his grandkids do well. I can only imagine your pride in seeing you children and grandchildren develop into such talented and successful entertainers. Well done to you and them!

I realize all this family brag is probably getting tiresome, but the truth is I’m floored that a child can not only accomplish this stuff - it takes a lot of self discipline - but get these kinds of reviews from impartial critics who aren’t her grandpa!

That’s why I have to share it.

Awesome reviews. That would be a great play to see. And it's so nice, with all the ongoing stories about kids' troubles having gone through the Covid era, to have kids not only thriving but knocking it out of the park. Congrats!
