Opaque WL SC594's? Searching for rosewood neck and opaque top

For a long time, I have had my heart set on a gold top single cut. Almost 2 years ago I was on the hunt for a G LP gold top with P-90's and lucked into a VOS 2018 SC594 in McCarty burst with P-90's. That guitar is amazing and fills my limited P-90 needs. I thought I left the gold top obsession after picking up a few additional single cuts and 3 G LP Customs. Recently, I was watching the Bad Religion COVID shows ("Decades", as the name suggests they did songs from each decade in separate shows) and several times Brian Baker grabbed an R7 with black plastics and I was triggered! It just looks so awesome.

There is something about the simplicity of an opaque top and natural back that just hits me a certain way. I started down the path of looking into R7's and I keep coming back to what lead me to my SC594 Soapy... The heritage/history angle of G does not hold much weight with me and the SC594 is the "perfect" instrument for me in this application. I do not want to fight my guitar and considering this is a hobby for me, I want a guitar that just feels perfect every time I pick it up. My LP Customs have been perfect and serve their purpose, but they are Customs, not the various R's. The SC594 never disappoints.

This brings me back to the SC594 which has not let me down so far. Each of my SC's play amazingly well and bring consistency to my playing. I see at least three options in front of me.
1. Simply buy an R7 and customize it to get the look I want, but "put up with" the neck feel, tuning stability, and general comfort issues I assign to the R's.
2. Purchase a SC594 Gold top, swap the knobs/plastics, and install locking tuners
3. Go for broke and track down a Wood Library SC594 with an opaque top and rosewood neck... I mean if we are getting creative, let's go for broke!

I have been scouring the internet for a week and it seems like opaque top SC594's are pretty rare (outside of the standard gold top) and opaque top SC594's with rosewood necks are extremely rare. Both Brians Guitars and Ish Guitars have done a few WL runs with cool opaque tops and rosewood necks. Only a few of those seem to be available, a few white tops currently on reverb.

Before I get my heart set on option 3 above, it would be helpful to understand just how rare these are. Were there any previous runs of opaque top SC594's (or other SC variations) with natural backs and rosewood necks? Am I just chasing after unicorns here or are there a few out there where I just need to be patient to see what comes along? Specifically I am trying to understand what colors people have seen (or owned) to understand if what I am looking for has already been done. Commissioning a new WL/PS guitar is not in the cards at the moment.

@88prs that is the same place I keep getting stuck. It seems like opaque finishes are rare and then if you add the additional limitation of a rosewood neck, it quickly moves into "unicorn" territory. First world problems for sure.

The more I think about it and my use case, the core SC594 gold top may be the best path. It's a fantastic instrument as is and much more accessible. This could make the quest much easier as I would only have to focus on condition/price... It also has the added benefit for future protection if I decide to sell as there would be more interested buyers than some rare/hard-to find build.

The boys at Brian’s guitars did a WL a few years back. Opaque finishes with different necks. I believe this meets your criteria. I never saw a gold top version. They did black, red, blue, lime green, maybe white? I forget now. I suggest calling them. They are quick to answer questions. Even if black is not the one you want. Staff members tend to buy some wood libraries and then resell them down the road

@Broseph the guitar you linked would be a great fit for what I am looking for. I appreciate your suggestion as I missed that particular guitar in my search. That is an awesome build and not a terrible price! The guys at @Brian G are a fantastic bunch (we are working together on a PS build, in fact). They have impeccable tastes and are not afraid to stretch boundaries with their designs. The WL SC594 you show is a perfect example of that. I was actually watching one of their's with a blue one with maple neck/board for a while. Very tempting.

In the end, I found an amazing deal on a "demo" gold top SC594 just yesterday and pulled the trigger on it, with delivery expected early next week. It was an unexpected find early yesterday morning. I took @Bogner advice and decided to get the guitar I have been drooling over for several years. It seems each time I try to find a way to get something "similar" to the simple look of a Gold Top single cut, the alternative solution just does not live up to what I was hoping for. In this case I did a lot of soul searching over the past few weeks to better understand what I was hoping to accomplish with this guitar purchase. The SC594 Gold Top should be the perfect fit for my current "needs"... but that does not mean I will not find new "needs" in the future which will lead to more guitars. I just need to figure out a better story to tell the wife as I have been saying "there is no reason I would ever need more than 10 guitars" and this gold top will be 11, so the clock is ticking on my ability to reposition my story.

That's awesome!

1. Having an even number of guitars is bad luck, you don't want me to have bad luck, do you sweetie!
2. My guitar collection now goes to 11 Honey, it is 1 louder!
3. I mis-spoke when I said 10, what I meant was no more than double digits Dear!
4. With this new guitar, I feel younger and stronger, is there anything I can help you out with my Love, I have a lot of energy!
5. Can't a guy change his mind!
6. If you love me, you will support my decision, you know I would do the same for you!
7. Nothing to see here Sugar Sugar, move along!
8. It's an investment my Dear, look, it's GOOOOOOLD!

Try them in whatever order you see fit (but don't give up if your first choice does not work) ;~)) Best wishes and congrats on the new guitar, hope it arrives safe!!

Use That Common Core Math Voodoo They Are Teaching Now A Days. 10 Guitars Is Technically Two Different Numbers...One And Zero. 11 Guitars Is Technically One Number Twice. That Is Different As You Are Now Down To A Single Number 1 1. Mind You, This Type Of Counting Won't Work For Number 12.

Instead Of Needs And Reasons, Why Not Say Wants And Decisions. Sometimes People Miss The Blatantly Obvious Stuff.

Congrats On Your New Guitar! :)

Just closing this thread out with the "goods" which arrived this afternoon! The guitar is amazing. Though admittedly this is my 5th 594 (4th SC594), so I knew what I was getting in that department. It is lighter than my other SC594's and approaches the weight of my DC594. I only did a quick setup and detailed look over before putting it through its paces for an hour. It's a great guitar. Even as a store "demo", it is spotless.

Honestly, the thing I am most impressed with is the gold top. I have always been hesitant to get into an opaque PRS (who wants to hide the amazing tops?), but I kept coming back to this as an option when I would start thinking about an R7. The PRS gold is so much more dynamic than I expected. The big G is "flat" in comparison. This gold has many more hues depending on the angle and it really shows off the curve of the top (which gets missed in the flamed maple tops).

@Bogner you are the man! Straight talk and you got me out of my head where I was overthinking it. Simply getting the guitar I really wanted was the right move. Thank you!

@Moondog Wily I used a combination of 3, 4, 5, and 7. It worked. I got the obligatory eye roll and she just walked away. It's a win!

Mmmmm, that is LOVELY! Congrats on snagging that "demo"!! And so happy the wife responded with nothing more than an eye roll, sounds like a win to me as well ;~)) If it is under 8lbs, I will throw my hat in the ring for dibs on that one, it is exactly what I want when I eventually get a gold top!!!

What A Beauty, Happy To Have Helped! :)

Super nice. I like opaque tops. I’d say less is more, but gold, black and maybe white are not less. Gold is probably more.
