Did what again? Found another CE 24 body for another project! Since I've got an extra neck, which I decided is too nice to part with, I figured I'd start poking around. I found the body on flea bay Sunday night. After an afternoon of imbibing and football, I was in the right frame of mind to click "Buy Now." Then, common sense reared it's ugly head, and I got cold feet. Fast forward to the middle of the week, and a brutally boring 4 hour conference call, and PLENTY of time to cruise the interweb. No way common sense was getting in the way this time. I was way too bored, and P.O.'d at the huge waste of time, that I bought it without giving it a second thought. I'd love to say that Sergio planted the seed, twisted my arm, etc. but I can't. Once I saw it Sunday, I knew that I would snag it at some point. I'm weak that way!

Anyway, it should be here by the end of the day Friday. It's Salmon, and I'm not sure that I'm crazy about that color. We'll see. I have no plans for it, other than the neck below. So, I'm open to ideas/thoughts. I'm out of town next week on vacation, so I won't start ordering things for a couple of weeks. Let the ideas flow..............

This thread is about a zillion times better than the Britney song!

My 2 cents - when considering a guitar/build, I try to fill gaps in whatever sonic/aesthetic territory my current guitars cover. This is why my next project will feature a set of \m/s and with a Korina body, and it's white!

If this guitar was mine, I'd be filling in those pickup cavities a little bit, getting crazy with a router, and going something like a triple pack of P-90s or Fralin Big Singles. I'd finish it off with a goldtop and natural back (keeping the binding obv), and maybe even hybrid hardware for something a little different (for me).

Anyway can't wait to see what you do with this one, your other project is seriously awesome!

Yeah, I've been eyeballing that one for weeks, but decided I'd stick with already-put-together-guitars. I love salmon (the color), found that one as soon as I found out that PRS had a colour called salmon. And nothing else. Really curious what it looks like in real life (the picture doesn't look salmon to me -- not necessarily a bad thing, all you have to do is like the color, that's all that matters).

Also, isn't it a CE22? Doesn't that mean that the only neck you can stick on it is a CE22 neck? Feel free to tell me I'm wrong, this is based on one person's input. I don't know how necks and bodies match up. I claim newbiness.

I do agree with the suggestion of "filling in gaps" -- so would select a pickup whose sound profile you don't have yet.

Cheers -- I will follow this build with interest.

It'd better be a 24. That's what the description said. Although, I do recall seeing the 22 you're referring to. The pic sure looks like a 24 judging by the pick up spacing. I guess I'll know for sure Friday!

You're right, don't know where I got 22 from, sorry, didn't mean to panic you.

I'll be really curious what you end up doing with it. I personally am not sure about the color in the photos neither, so don't feel obliged to keep the finish on my behalf. :proud:

i love this combo and actually have a friend ( who builds basses), doing his first guitar build for me. The combo is a p90 neck (humbucker sized) and humbucker bridge!!! I am going with a wrap around bridge as well. I plan to use bare knuckle pickups ( Mississippi queen for neck and abraxas bridge). I was going to do a normal sized p90 with the thought i can change it to a mini humbucker if I wanted too. But I rather keep it on the full size bucker for this build.

Congrats and looking forward to following this build! WAIT - How about a Buddy Guy tribute polka dot PRS!!!

Is that a plain maple top under that finish? I was thinking the other day, there should be more plain maple topped PRS guitars with translucent finishes. In fact, are there any in existence? I don't know that I've ever seen PRS do that.

Looks like another fun project.

I keep wondering how these naked bodies come about. Were they from guitars with broken necks that got gutted and parted out, or are people parting out perfectly good guitars because they think they can get more for the parts than the sum????

Does the seller have any history on the guitar?

Since you don't really have a direction yet, maybe it could be an electric this:

Pishaw my good man. Been there, done that. I've taken inspiration from the great Jonathan Higgins (Magnum P.I. for you young-ens) building a replica Bridge on the River Kwai with tooth picks and created such an elegant axe from used Popsicle sticks and chewing gum. I sold it on eBay to the great Estaban (no relation to Lestaban) for one million dollars. I've since seen knock off versions on QVC for $199.95
