Does the coil tap cut the slug coil leaving the screw coil audible, or does it cut the screw coil leaving the slug coil audible?

I believe I heard Paul say once that the slug coils stay active when using the split, but someone who knows better should probably confirm or deny that...

I don't remember which coil stayed on with the original pickups, but when I put new pickups in I used the existing wiring and it definitely leaves the screw coils on now. That may be a difference in the wiring color-coding between the stock and replacement pickups though.

I might suggest tapping the slugs or screws with a screw driver while the PU is tapped and see which gives the louder pop...shouldn't hurt the pickups, and may answer your question...?

I don't own an S2, I was just enamored by the tones that Bryan Ewald was getting in the new S2 Custom 22 Semi-Hollow Video . I was going to see If i can conjure up some of those tones out of a Core 1995 Custom 22 I have coming in on Wednesday with a set of 4 wire Duncan 59's I have lying around.

Unless they're bucking the standard on these for some reason, it should be the outside coils.
