hello community!
my prs is a ce24 from 1996 or 1997.
i have found a schematic for the 5way rotary on the support center.

http://www.prsguitars.com/csc/schematics/schem08/custom5wayrotary.pdf

i am thinking about to change my electrics to the corrent way.
my question is: what is the differenz between the new and the old schematic in tone and function
and is there a direction for the .022 condenser or doesn't it matter?
i cant find a "+ or -" symbol on this part..
i will be pleased for help :)

kind regards marcel

The "Current" version connects the tone control directly to the output, which avoids putting its load on the volume control. The result will be that the sound retains more high end as the volume is rolled down. The trade-off with this design is that the tone control isn't as sensitive in the first part of its taper (about 7-10 on the knob).

It's curious that they kept the cap on the volume control, since that's another way to retain highs as the volume is turned down. Paul and Co definitely know what they're doing tone-wise, so I'd trust the "Current" diagram. If the sound is too bright for your taste when you turn down, you can remove the cap from the volume, or go back to the older scheme. Easy experimenting. :top:

The direction of the capaictor does not matter.

thank you very much for this usefull reply garrett!! :)
i have no questions left!
i can't really notice any big differences between the two schematics
exept, like you said, the dynamic from the tone poti especially on the last quarter of the turn.
i will trust paul and co's new schematics :)

thanks again! marcel
