Have any of you taken a file to the fulcrum holes? I've got a trem that has ridges that need removed. I realize it will never be 100% but I just wonder if it can be salvaged.

A nos mann trem can be had for 225.00 so it doesn't make sense to put much money into repairs.

What's the worst that could happen? Mess it up and have to buy the Mann?

Go for it.

Go slow and be sure to file all the holes evenly. Do you have callers to make comparative measurements between the holes?

Oh, and pics. We'll need pics.

I'd say the safest way to clean up the fulcrum holes would be to use a reamer for the correct size of the hole. You could end up with all shapes of hole using a file.

Edit: I should add "parallel reamer".

Yep, if you have a dremel tool, put a cone shaped grind tip on it and you should be good to go.

I'd still prefer a parallel reamer, if it's the correct size for the hole there's no need for conical holes. Of course it all depends on how tolerant dependant the holes are.

It's cool that John can repair these things..I have to wonder how much money would be wrapped up in that repair, plus shipping.
