Old Skool SK8

Love love love skateboarding. Started at 9, stopped at 22. Street, pool, miniramp, all game. My first 'real' board was a Santa Cruz Christian Hosoi, loved it and rode it until it came apart.

The only protectors i ever put on the board were the siderails to protect the board from cracking on rails. Later even those were removed. Far too heavy :D

Haven't touched a skateboard in 14 years. But this thread gives me an itch yo try it again.

Btw have any of you switched to snowboarding? I did and it's awesome!

Cool thread \m/

I found this video that a fan of my old band made, I have no idea who put it together which makes me all that much more stoked about it!
I'm singing on the first song and the second song is on all of Vision Street Wear's classic video reissues, this is PRS relevant as I played my CE on every studio album I have ever done.

Hope it gets someone out there psyched to GO SKATE!

That is fantastic! Love the music (and the video), that's the kind of stuff I listened to when I was skating. Couple of years later, it was all baggy pants and hip hop - WTF?

EDIT: just looked up a couple of the decks I owned - fond memories!

This one was always my favourite: World Industries Mike Vallely Barnyard (doubletail)

I love ya' buddy, but I think I would get beat up less at the skatepark wearin' Fruitboots!

You wouldn't drive an F1 car on the Dakar Rally. Similarly, this 35" monster would never see a skatepark.

And my Bauer "fruitboots" only get worn when I'm suited up and holding a stick. That's not fighting. That's Hockey.

;)

I'm just joking around buddy! If there every was a group of people that fear change more than guitarists it would be skateboarders.

My old band did a song for some company that made a longboard/snowboard thing that had two rollerblade-like wheels that was supposed to simulate the feeling of carving on a snowboard. Good thing we cashed that check fast! They were out of the market in less than a year, not that I would EVER wish the same fate on that morally and ethically responsible company known as BMW.

I think one of the coolest things about skateboarders is their general resistance to companies outside of the sport. I saw firsthand through endorsement deals how hard Adidas and Nike tried to break into the sport, with little to no success for Nike.

Being the prissy-nut job that I am, I do really want these Diane Von Furstenberg Sk8 shoes though!

Found the actual ad, and I was surprised to see that they ARE still around!
