Hi there,

Looking for opinions here... I have an older (2002) SAS with the stander PU config and have gone on with it just fine... Just was reading op on the newer SAS models that have the 3 NF 57/08's in the with the 5-way blade and wanted to see if there was anyone out there that has comparative experience having played both models that can share the differences tonally.

Which is the "better" sounding model (tone is subjective - I know)...

Thanks guys...

Not sure I have a very definitive opinion. I have an older SAS that is the ONE PRS I kept out of a lot of older models. For some reason the others, lovely as they were, did not really become long term keepers for me. I guess it was, in no small part, the tone. That SAS one (natural finish, the best of three I had, DID.

I also have a newer, (barely played) Swamp Ash Studio with maple neck, etc. Lovely guitar. I have yet to break the code for the NF pickups. Though others swear by them....Well, maybe if I can ever get around to spending quality time, I can give a stronger tone report.......

Thanks for there response. I am quite curious about the NF 57/08's as well. One thing I like about the older SAS is the versatility of the McCarty PU's with the single coil int eh middle. Just not sure about 3 of the same PU in different positions...

Anyone else out there with some practical experience?

thanks guys!
