Old McCarty pickups are tops, and you're wrong for changing them

Have to agree! I've been using a set in my old P22 for a few years now with awesome results. I did try a set in my Custom for a while, but they didn't work out so well.
*edit*: I did replace the 5-way blade with a 3-way blade, and installed a push/pull tone pot for coil cuts.

Okay, I am legit drunk as a skunk right now, but you jabronis are seriously crazy for replacing the old McCarty pups. I was playing a neckthru walnut and maple reinforced guitar with SD distortion, a PRS SE 245, an Epi G-400 pro, and a McCarty from 2004 today on my Mesa Mark IV from 1992 toned to Metallica's Black album on channel 3 and the Distortion and McCarty came out on top easily. Those pickups are out of this world classic, PAFfy, and versatile. I'll swear by them any day over the more modern stuff, and challenge any nay-sayers to a duel with rapiers and bucklers. You're goin down. I have righteousness and God on my side, and all you have is da modern devil. You're history. Shame! SHAME!!!
McCarty all the way, baby!!!
I'm just a fan of the fact that you called us all jabronis. Plus 100 points to you sir.

I dunno, Kirk is playing Peter Green's LP, that he bought for $1 million, on tour. Doesn't get much more PAFy.

Just remember those “pick-up ladies” left the winders on when they went to lunch! Heavens knows how many winds were on those pickups in Greeny’s old burst.

Funny thing is that I’m an old interview he didn’t think there was anything special about the guitar!

I remember reading that, too!

McCarty’s sound great. I’ve one in particular very strongly in that vein, a 57/08 limited. I attribute it to the guitar. It is so obvious just from playing it acoustically.

The McCarty 58s are amazing instruments. One has to go private stock today to match the quality and tone of these instruments. Whereas Gibson is weight relieving everything, this guitar weighs around 7lbs.

I have this at the moment for my P90 fix
Is that a Mark I and I don't know how to feel about a triple P90 setup, but that's a beaut. I need more experience with P90s in general.
I have no problem at all with the pups in my 2001 McCarty or my 2009 P90 McCarty. And I'm really liking my 2018 McCarty 594. I see no reason at all to change out any of the pups. Hmmm, looks like I have a thing for McCartys.
You got the 58/15s or the LTs in that 594? How do they sound either way? I think a private stock SC594 with a 10 quilt and an emerald finish is probably my dream guitar.
I just put a set of McCartys in my CU22 liking the result so far :)
Were you able to get the wiring to match up with the McCartys and the 5-way rotary, or did you go with something else, or was it a McCarty switching CU22?
I was initially looking at older CU22s when I started looking for a first US made PRS, but none had the deal or the right finish for me that the McCarty had. I was actually worried I wouldn't like it all that much just because the pickups weren't Dragon IIs (which were popular with a lot of bands in the very late 90s thru the 00s). What an ignoramus I was. I hadn't taken the PAF/vintage output pill yet.

My CU22 has a blade switch for now I wired it pretty simply with the taps on 2+4 and both pickups in 3 didn't do any out of phase or anything for now.
really like the sounds I am getting
