Hi Guys!
I have found a decent deal on a CE22 but the sn is odd sort of: it is 4710898 where 4 should stand for 1994, 7 for CE and it should be the 10898th guitar made that year but according to the table in the PRS website this guitar should have been made in 1995. Is this something that happens or the guitar could be a non legit one? Also, how much would you pay for that (ok conditions with a few dents in the body)?

Thanks a lot :)

Best to post pics, if you can post 3 times...Best way to tell.
I'd imagine 1 year off (94 vs. 95) may be ok...But...GREAT guitars...hopefully a Big, Fat, Juicy maple neck (well, for me, anyway!!! :D)
With dings, bumps, bruises...I'd offer about 1K, and see what happens. (maybe go a little higher)
Good luck.

The serial numbers are approximate, and 10898 is right on the cusp between years according to the PRS site. The number is cumulative and does not restart each year.

So no worries. If you feel good about it, go for it!

95ish could have Dragon 1's. That would be a great bonus. You should check.

Small Update: haven't sent any offers yet but there's some local CE's and CU24 that I would like to try and see which one has more "mojo" to me

CE24 1991 (?)

image;s=1000x700;r=90

Is this one legit?

:D

what about this one?
image;s=1000x700

it is a 10 top...Not an expert, is that supposed to be lot better? (different guitars, mahogany vs alder etc I know :D)

Nice, classic Custom 24...with some love marks...do it, if you can...will be a little different from the CE's...
a smidge more mids/warmth, sustain, everything that goes with set neck, but not as much "snappiness", often associated with bolt-ons.
That's Early 90's, Wide-Thin or Regular neck...???

10-Tops are strictly a visual thing, not affecting tone at all......but NICE to look at!!! (IMHO)

Don't sweat it over that picture - a different angle and different light can make that flame pop out a ton. I'd bet when you see it in person, the pic won't have done it justice.

My Tremonti is a non-10 - when I saw it on the stand on a table at Experience, my first thought was, wow, the figuring on this just disappears. When I picked it up and changed the angle, it looked completely different. Still not a 10, but it looked much better.

And as Bill said, it's a visual thing - doesn't affect the sound at all. But it can affect how you feel about the guitar.

Ok guys, last one :D

Nice Standard 22. All the 2005 guitars had the "20th" truss rod cover. They could've had moons, old school birds, or the 20th anniversary birds.
