Dave's not here
Well I tried it anyway!
I've been wanting to try wireless mic.
I didn't really want a dedicated mic for the job as I already have a couple that do the trick.
So I started looking at 2.4gz wireless adapters.
I picked up a XVive U3 set and tested it last night at practice.

The transmitter fits nice and snug into the mic. It clicks in place just like a cable.
But! The fun part is there is no cable! Yay!

Gratuitous 594 soapy shot...

Anyway, I ran around the studio and had perfect connectivity everywhere inside, with zero dropouts. I had seen the video of some guy outside who simply turned around and walked away from the RX, and the dropouts commenced at an alarmingly short distance. Did not fill me with confidence I must say.
That being said, I saw other reviews that were highly complimentary. So... based on the fact that my local pusher had these for a price among the lowest I've seen, and the fact I could take it back if dissatisfied, I took the chance.
I even ran around the corner (inside) to the bathroom and closed the door, still no dropout.
I do not recommend taking your live wireless mic into the bathroom... just sayin'.
Worked great all night, and I thoroughly enjoyed having control over my own mic sound and volume (Bose L1) without having to bug someone else, or fiddle with the settings that another band had adjusted the PA to.
Oh... and I hate cables.
Further testing and range limits to be performed over the next few days, but if last night is any indicator, it's a win!
Me likey!
