New Wood Library Guitar Day! A few "firsts" for me in, not only this build, but also this transaction! A little back story, per usual, with my lengthy posts. But if you'd like to skip ahead to the pics, feel free.

The wifey was asking me what I'd like for Father's Day this year. My usual reply when she asks me what I want for birthdays, Christmas, or any other gift-giving occasion is a jokingly-but-still- slightly-serious "a guitar is always a safe bet". Usually it's played off with a "I know it is..." and we move on. However, this time she asked me if I had my eye on anything in particular. I've been watching a few through various web sites and sent her the ones I'd been eyeing, still not really clinging to the idea of getting one. She asked me which one, out of all of them, would you choose. So without hesitation, I picked this one. To my surprise, she not only agreed but encouraged me to get it. It's a very unique color and quite different from everything else I have. To say I felt humbled and blessed would be an massive understatement.

The main issue, though, was it was overseas....something I have never dealt with. Before getting too excited, I reached out to the seller to see what I would be looking at in terms of having it shipped over. I won't hesitate to say, this seller was beyond accommodating. They were super-responsive and quick with communication. After a conversation over the phone, they offered to video-chat. Showing me the guitar and paperwork along with it helped put my nerves at ease about the legitimacy of the guitar itself. They also helped me get everything in order with the shipper to have the proper documentation for transit. On top of all of that, they helped keep me posted on shipment updates, and checked in every day while it went through Customs. All in all, the shipment took only a week to arrive, which I found absolutely incredible.

Anyways, here she is. A 2018 Wood Library P24 in Faded Purple Jean. Artist Grade Quilt Top, flamed neck and board, and 3-piece ash back. Firsts for me: Ash back and maple board. I have a HBII, but a piezo-equipped trem is also a first.

I added a figured maple truss rod cover....thought it ended up matching pretty well.

Tone-wise, I'm loving it. The extra maple makes it a bit more punchy than my other guitars. The notes are clear and articulate. The higher notes could get a bit ice-picky when I had my amp set to profile my other guitars, but dialing back the treble and upping the mids on the amp cleaned the tone up very nicely.

The piezo pretty much sounds identical to my HBII, so I'm not sure if I'm just not hearing the differences or if the construction of the guitar has little effect on the piezo system.

Also, I want to mention that this guitar, even being two years old, is MINT. Not a single scratch or ding anywhere. The only thing I needed to do was adjust the truss rod a touch, tighten a couple screws, and wipe the hardware down a bit. All of which probably were results of the shipping overseas.

Thanks for looking / reading and sharing in the excitement of a new PRS!

What a looker, too! I love how the finish fades out to almost that raw, light-sandy natural maple color in the stripes of the flame. And that color tone (the faded, almost non-purple wood tone) coordinates perfectly with the back & neck. VERY well-executed color scheme.

Awesome guitar! The wife's a keeper too!
My Violet Custom 24 Piezo is the most versatile guitar I own. I frequently make it through a full rehearsal on just it (unless we play some of our drop-D numbers, then I go to the P22 stoptail).
I know you're gonna love it!

Hell yeah! I'd be after that thing all day long. Props to the cool Mrs, too!

Seriously! It's such a fantastic instrument, I couldn't put it down all weekend and didn't want to go back to work today. :p

And yeah, my wife is a God-send. It kind of took me by surprise when she not only agreed but encouraged me to get it, because like I mentioned before, we kind of just joke about it and move on. I guess she really liked this one and supported me getting after something that inspired me.

That's what I thought, too! How well-executed the staining job was. I have yet to see it at an angle where it's "less-flattering" than the next. Every angle shows something remarkably different and beautiful!

Hahaha...she always jokes "you're stuck with me" but I feel like I'm the lucky one in the relationship right now! In all seriousness, though, we support each other in our hobbies and interests. We discuss all large purchases, look at our finances, and make decisions like these together. I feel very blessed to be a part of that kind of relationship.

And yeah, this guitar pretty much combines all my favorite specs. The Custom 24 being my model of choice, the fantastic PRS trem, a versatility of the piezo, and a smooth, "unfinished" neck. :)

Cool all around! I think I have a new favorite color, too.

That's what I thought when I saw it! I've seen Faded Blue Jean, but not Faded Purple Jean.

Congrats! That is one smokin guitar!

As glorious to play as it is to look at! ;)

Good lord!

Most excellent.
It’s good to deserve something that nice.

It really is humbling. As one of four kids to a single mother for a good portion of my childhood, we didn't have a whole lot. One thing I did have were excellent role-models who taught me a great deal about responsibility and self discipline. With those two things and the wonderful partnership with the wifey, we've been very blessed to be able to put ourselves into positions where we can afford to treat ourselves every so often! :)

Beautiful!!! Was it in Europe or Japan? (Eying a guitar in Japan myself...)

Sweet top!!

Thanks! This one was from the East, which I feel get some of the best one-off builds out there. The colors I've seen in the Asian market really show what we're missing here!
