I just bought a used Tremonti and it is currently set up with 12s in drop C. I assume the nut will need to be replaced to get back to the 9s that it originally came with. Looking for the best/easiest replacement, buy a core or tusq? Other?

I believe Core will fit, I put a Tusq XL (pre cut/slotted to PRS SE spec) on an SE many years ago that has also done well. The main difference you’ll find is that the Core nut has much deeper slots, whereas the Tusq is more of a semi-circle or bowl shaped groove that doesn’t have deep slot walls, much shallower, if that makes sense. If you’re going back to 9’s or 10’s, the Core is a great choice because it’s already cut for that. The Tusq is actually good for going the other way, because it can accommodate much thicker strings.
