Just what else I noticed upon searching for my guitar's imperfections.

From the low E side the nut is flush, and from the high E side it is kinda not flush. (circled in picture)

Would you expect this on some of the imported SE models but not from what is usa-made?

It doesn't change my mind about loving this guitar. I mean the nut is doing it's job as it stays in tune very well.

Just wondering what you think.

I've had shallow cut and deeper cut guitars and it hasn't ever caused any issues.

If it bothers you ether return it of fix it , it would take less time to fix a small thing like that than to take the picture and post it , a bit of masking tape and sandpaper or a file it will be perfect in 2 minutes

If the string height at the first fret is good, I wouldn’t bother with anything. If it was high that side, could remove the nut and clean it up. I’d guess you’d lose string height doing that and you might end up needing a new nut if it ended up low. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

If you love the guitar, it’s fixable by looks of it. Usually not worth the time or money if it functions properly.

I do love the guitar. I like it's playability and feel more than the Gibson Les Paul Studio I played on for years. Hollowbodies suit me apparently, and it doesn't weigh like 20 lbs strapped on my shoulder like that solid body chunk of dense mahogany. They do make lighter Les Pauls though.

I was just wondering if this is something people see as an inferiority of the SE line of PRS made in China is all.

PRS has good QC , typically as with anything as you go up the line there are less imperfections .. If you look closely at anything you can find a flaw.

One can, with a small degree of dillegence overcome these and learn in the process ..

If it doesn’t impact the playability, tone, comfort or overall aesthetic of the guitar, my advice is stop fretting over it ( ;) ) and just PLAY it!

FWIW, I’m friends with the folks at the shop where you bought that guitar. I’m certain they would be happy to address any issues you feel uncomfortable about. Great people who care about you being happy.

Yea they seemed cool and hooked me up when Guitar Center wasn't exactly playing fair. I won't be bothering them about my guitar issues while they're setting up the new building at their new location. I will maybe plan to see them again in the future if I need to replace that pickup selector switch as the installation and soldering job via f-hole would be a bit much for me and they're an authorized PRS dealer. I had never been to that specific music shop and spotted the guitar on Reverb. Glad I found them. The serial # on this guitar is D11979 which I find fitting as it specifies the year I arrived in this world. (Not that I'm claiming me or my guitar are special, I just enjoy the synchronicities in the universe!) 🌠

I was never voicing it as a complaint the nut was not aesthetically flush. I just thought the term nut job could be fuel for not taking me seriously, as well as opening the door to belittling me and my little purchase of an imported SE guitar. But all that is unnecessary as I personally find myself happy for now with the whole price point subject of this particular guitar.

The bait was tough not to take :)

Man, no one around here is going to belittle someone for a purchasing a se. We may not care for the player but most of us love the guitars! Many of us took our first hit with a se and some are still happy as can be at the crack house or have multiple through the lines.

You may see some shots at the QC and what's being pumped out of Indo these days. That's not because we don't like se guitars. It's the opposite. We have come to expect the very best we can get through the tiers. PRS is synonymous with quality and consistency, regardless of where's its made. In your case the seHb2. I personally think it's one of the best the se line has to offer and it would do well for the Indo employees to go to the China facility for training. Killer guitars! Enjoy the hell out of it..

Here's my take on that nut from the perspective of what I'd do if it was my guitar and I liked it as much as you - its playability, its looks, its feel in your hand.

Get a set of nut height feeler gages and check it out. That nut was massed produced on some work station at PRS, and if the depth of the slots are cut correctly, then when the assembler grabs one from the supply shelf, the height on both the bass and treble sides of the nut should be in spec if mounted flush.

However, with your guitar, the nut is tilted up on the treble side. Consequently, those affected strings are going to sit high.

So, if it were mine, I'd measure with the nut gage and file down the appropriate slots. Better than replacing the nut.

But, as others have said, if it all feels good to you, leave it as is. After all it's yours, not mine :D
