Could someone please tell me the factory specs for Nut Action on a PRS Guitar. I want to put on a bone nut and I need a starting point for slot depth. Thank You So Much For Your Time!!

They show how much clearance between bottom of string and top of first fret. I think that's what he's asking for.

IMNSHO The nut material used on the PRS core models is outstanding and adding a bone nut would be a downgrade. I don't know what the nut material is on the SE models but the only aftermarket nut I would install on any guitar would be the TUSQ nut that is made by Graph Tech.

Where? Sorry, I can't find it for some reason.

It's not there. I just checked every support page.

The typical way is to fret the 3rd fret(so press between fret 2&3). You should have about a hair's width of clearance on the first fret. Just enough that you can see it is not touching the first fret.

I would have agreed a while back, but the Private Stock team built my McCarty Singlecut with a bone nut. And the guitar does sound great. Really great.

It may simply be that the vintage spec they were going for called for a bone nut, but the guitar is really amazing.

However, the PS 30th Anniversary CU 24 I bought has the Core model nut material.

Well I stand corrected, it's not there. I swore I found it on there a few months back when I was looking for specs to replace a nut. Hmmmmm. Sorry guys.

I thought I was going NUTS....or blind(see what I did there?). Let the immature 13 year old jokes fly! I'm sorry, I couldn't resist any longer.

It might be a good idea to buy a new nut from the PRS Store and have your luthier copy it. A new nut is only a few bucks, and you'll be guaranteed to get the right spec...as long as your tech cuts the bone nut correctly. Good luck!
