Had to share. When I started playing, my best friend and bandmate absolutely loved and only owned Boss pedals. I know everyone is not a Boss fan, but he swore by them and naturally that influenced some of my decisions when adding to my own collection of pedals. I still have a majority of Boss pedals on my board today with most being newer models. This classic was the one that got away and I regretted it so I was finally able to find another at the right price.
...and it sounds just as good as I remembered

Cool pedal! Boss had already moved to the CE-3 by the time I started buying Boss pedals (1983?). I too was almost entirely a Boss pedal user for years. I've sold off all but a couple of mine since I went to using Line 6 stuff. I still have my original CE-3 and DD-2 (bought within weeks of them hitting the stores) though. I wish I had kept my DM-2 analog delay.

This is a great pedal...arguably one of the best choruses out there. I love mine...you paint is still in great shape!

(P.S. give it more than a normal 9 volt slot from your power supply;))

I agree. I think we all have a few of those (pedals, amps, guitars, etc) we wish we had kept over the years.

Thanks toothace! I managed to find one of my old Boss ACA 12v adapters, but I will likely end up adding it to a daisy chain power supply that is sharing a common ground with my newer PSA pedals so that it will bypass the voltage reduction circuitry.

I was bitten by the "boutique" pedal bug a few years ago...but the older Boss Pedals Rocked!!! especially that one...people rave about the CE-2!!!!
I've tried a few of the newer Waza craft ones, and they ain't too shabby, either.
I've tried/use a lot of Chorus with my fretless basses. (TC Electronics SCF-1, Fulltone Choralflange, Tech 21 Bass Chorus Boost, Aguilar Chorusaurus, etc...)
The CE-2 is probably close to a couple of them.
I think the older Boss pedals and older Peavey gear is very similar, that its built like tanks, and should outlast all of us. Very "meat and potatoes"...but GOOD Meat and potatoes!!!!

If you can find an old Dimension C, they were awesome...and one of Alex Lifeson's favorites.

Awesome!

Yep, that's about when I started buying pedals, maybe 1984. My first two were an HM-2 and CE-3 - the guitar store convinced me that the "new" CE-3 would be miles better than the "old" CE-2 (which they still sold). I should have bought the CE-2, but I didn't know any better. And since I was a metalhead, the HM-2 was automatic! (The HM-2 is an awesome pedal, and turned out to be what Gilmour used for the AMLOR album and tour, but I probably should have picked up a DS-1 or SD-1 at the time.)

I had to save up to buy the DD-2 a couple years later, late 1986 - I remember being at college, taking the bus to the far end of town, then walking a mile to a piano dealer who also carried Boss pedals for some reason (I assume association with Roland Keyboards) to get one at a reasonable price. I don't know why the local guitar stores downtown (much closer to campus - within walking distance) didn't carry them.

I used to use just Boss pedals, then found TGP and had to start trying those "cool" brands - but I didn't go whole hog nuts, only picking up a few that helped round out my effects collection, and kept all my Boss. Even now, a significant minority if not majority of pedals on any one of my boards are Boss, and I have a mid-size board that is 100% Boss.

I picked up a DM-2w, and it is very nice. I lust after a CE-2w. (Maybe this Christmas!)

Those are my favorite chorus pedal, Davey--in fact, maybe one of the only ones that I really like! I picked mine up (a green-label Made in Japan one) maybe 10-15 years ago on eBay when the "pedal modding" craze was hitting; then promptly sent it to Keeley for his magic & a blue LED. It's one of my very few "I could never sell this, it's too valuable to me" pedals.

Yep, some of those newer Waza craft pedals are pretty good, but I am still stuck in the 80's I guess. Next thing you know, I'll be on my front porch yelling at kids to stay off my lawn!

Awesome!

I remember the HM-2! The CE-3 was out when I was looking for pedals back in the early 80's too, but I couldn't afford the new ones so I had to "settle" for a used CE-2 at the time.
Lol, I remeber the piano stores selling pedals too!

Yep, I dont think I'll be parting with this pedal again. Its funny when I think of how, today, I am looking for some of the equipment I had when I was younger.

Sweet! I still have that as my frame of reference when listening or auditioning chorus tones. When the mod craze hit, I had Keeley do their hifi mod on my CE-2. It sounds great, but I probably should have kept it stock. Not that I'm going to sell it.
