I had to "mind the farm" for our Director of Service while he was on vacation the week of the 4th. He says he'd like to take me to lunch as a "Thank you." Who am I to argue with free food! Downside, that makes today a rare day that I shower before noon, shave, and put on "professional" clothes. UGH!
Lunch at Uncle Julio's is good. Their New Mexico Hatch Chile sauce has a NICE kick to it. Too much for the boss man. He can't finish his lunch. There's not too much shop talk. All in all, a pleasant lunch. Worth the hassle of grooming.
On the way home I have to drive right past a Guitar Center. Hey, I need a 3 way toggle. Might as well swing in and get one. They've remodeled and now the parts are right up front. Have the gentleman get what I need off the peg board, turn around and pay for it. Sweet, in and out the door in 5 minutes. Two steps from the front door and I have to look over my right shoulder at the Used Wall all the way in the back left corner of the store. What's that? There's a couple of things I see with that familiar head stock. One of the head stocks is maple? Gotta go back and check it out. Turns out to be a brownish CE22, and a black S2 Cu24. Cool! Not a bad price on the CE and it has some nice patina to it. Oh well, gotta go.
Guy comes back to see what peaked my interest and I tell him I'm a sucker for all things PRS. "Oh", he says, "I have another one by the counter I was going to play. Wanna see it?" Of course I do. Turns out to be a very cool looking SE One. "Oh, those are sweet little rockers", I say. He says, "I've never seen or played one." I respond with, "You'd better do it now, cuz I'm taking it home." Fifteen minutes later, and for less than $300, I am the proud owner of this SE One.
It's got one little ding on the top, and some light pick swirls on the pick guard. Other than that, looks mint.
I've got an extra amber lampshade, and a core nut in the parts drawer. Perhaps a MannMade 2300 and John's locking tuner are in order.
Moral of the story....shower, dress and get out of the house more often!
