I like to wait a month or so after buying a used guitar before I post just in case I decide I'm not happy with it. However, this one I absolutely love!
Back in May, I had to sell most of my guitars to pay for some unexpected expenses my savings could not cover. Now that I have recovered from that, I picked this up for a steal used at the Big Box most of us don't care for. It had been there forever and I am pretty sure it was because it buzzed on every fret really bad. It was listed as a Custom 22 satin, but it's actually a Sunburst 22 Satin from 2009 that was only made in 2009. I for one, can't stand Satin finishes, but thankfully I have all of the tools and supplies necessary to gloss things up nicely. Being that it's nitrocellulose it has a really nice resonance to it. A little 0000 steel wool, fine polishing compound, then some swirl remover and she shines real nice.
The buzz was due to someone cutting the string slots in the nut way too low, the string were riding on the first fret. I cut a new bone nut for it, and set the clearance on the new slots to .022 at the first fret. Plays great with no buzz.
Once the 57/08s were sold on flea bay (in about 2 hours for my buy it now price), my out the door cost was about what a used CE 22 goes for! (yes, I do not care for 57/08s call me crazy).
It came in a PRS Hollowbody case, pretty sure that's not the original case. I am going to try and see if someone has a standard case to trade.
