To me, there is a sweet spot between brand new, and worn in. It only lasts a little while. NOW, do I regularly change them out when they are "past their prime"? Haaaaaaaaay-yal naw! I am way too lazy for that. Unless I need it fresher to play out or something. But it is always nice to know you supply is fully stocked for when needed.

With pure nickel strings (as opposed to nickel plated steel, which I'll admit sound good for a shorter period of time), I sometimes go...well...uh....um...

...a year before changing them. But they still sound good! My hands are dry, and the strings seem to last. I change the plated strings a little sooner.

"You're just lazy and hate changing strings."

"That, too." :)
