Ever since I sold a really sweet modular pedalboard a few years ago, I've basically had my pedals on a simple board I made, along with a power supply or two, and a tangle of cables. Well, a flat board is pretty functional for the first row of pedals, but after that it kinda falls short and it becomes a mishmash of little inconveniences. It's also hard to take it to a session unless you buy a case for it.

So I've yearned for a cool pedalboard, and I finally got around to ordering one from Rockfoot Pedalboards. I've had my eye on these for a few months. This is their Tour Pedalboard (the one I have coming is black tolex with a tan insert, not tweed like this one):

In addition to the matching lid feature, the board has a hinged velcro top surface for the pedals, so that you don't have to turn the board upside-down to work with the power supply or thread the cables. There are two power outlets and a lighted power switch, and four jacks to connect the board and pedals to the outside world. All connections are under the lid, to keep dirt and crud out. Not that I have dirt and crud, but what the heck, it could rain or snow when I'm going somewhere. ;)

I'm excited to wire this thing up and get it going!

Nice, Les. Black and tan... that'll be too cool!

Goldtop Lloyd

Thanks Lloyd! Yeah, I think black and tan will be awesome! I was lucky to get one of the finished ones they had for sale on their site, and kind of dug the black and tan. The good thing is that if I'd had to choose a color combination for a custom order, I'd still be hemming and hawing over the decision. So this way, it went from "too many choices" to "I'll take that one." ;)

Pretty cool board Les! So those courtesy outlets underneath, you'd plug pedal power type devices(or even adaptors) and it's all powered by the single power cord that comes out the top of the board...nice idea, the hinge top is awesome too! That's kinda the hassle with my pedal train, is everything being tied up underneath, adding something to the board can be a hassle. That looks very well thought out! It's kinda like a Les Harbaugh pedalboard, black shirt, tan pants!:p  :top:

Yup, pedal power devices sit under the hinged top board, with plenty of room for whatever adaptors, etc, one needs in the compartment, and the velcro in the compartment also will keep things from sliding around. Then a single power cord comes out the top and everything's connected. I use two pedal power boxes, so boom! You can order as many outlets as you need.

Also there are four 1/4 inch jacks for whatever audio I want to connect (as with power outlets, one can order a board with more). I figured 4 is enough for input and two outputs, one for each amp, or for an effects loop, an input and an output.

It's funny, because I actually went to GC to buy a pedal train a few months ago, as I think it's a superb design. I was very close to getting their large board in a Mono case, but I started thinking about how the frequent pedal changes I make on a board might be more difficult than with my simple slab o' wood, and I backed off. When I saw this hinged top idea, I realized it might be easier than the pedal train to change things up for different projects.

So there's functionality, and the built in road case idea, plus it will look nice for when clients come over. I'm looking forward to wiring it up. The only potential drag is that I know I'll need a few different length cables, but for now it's all good!

Harbaugh's not gonna be tan and black with the switch to Michigan! But I'm so on board with that, being a Michigan alum. ;)

Les,

Your "savior" has arrived (Harbaugh)! :top: Like your case - It is a lot more functional than the backpack that I use.
