Got my hands on a Wampler Plexidrive this weekend - my first foray into the world of boutique pedals! Still on the honeymoon, but it was worth the price of admission. I've been fighting with a Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde for a while now, and just couldn't dial out the harsh without it sounding totally dull, and it was too modern in general to do plexi tones. So a few months back I started looking around for a possible replacement, and this one really caughty eye. Finally found one in a shop yesterday, and it didn't take long to make up my mind. This thing is sweet! I'm no plexi expert, but as far as I can tell, and for lack of a direct A/B, this pedal has it going on in a big way. The gain character is superb, and the EQ matched right up with my amp seamlessly. Plus, you can abuse the heck out of it signal wise, and it handles it all. Cleans right up if you want it to, and can also take a hefty boost and doesn't get wooly. I'm feeling like one of the Hawkins brothers with my 57/08's running into this monster!

We'll see what the future holds, but so far I'm loving this pedal!
