Nah, threw in a little sauce at the beginning and end, but I can literally hear the crowd singing along, so I can't play around too much with the main melody...Nice! I was glad to hear that you didn't put a ton of extra notes in it like many other guitar players have done.
IMHO, you didn't over do it though. I was referring to how many renditions of this I have heard with tons of added soloing all the way through it. Yours was well done.Nah, threw in a little sauce at the beginning and end, but I can literally hear the crowd singing along, so I can't play around too much with the main melody...
Whenever I'm invited to do the anthem, I go in knowing full well that it ain't about me, so I play accordingly.IMHO, you didn't over do it though. I was referring to how many renditions of this I have heard with tons of added soloing all the way through it. Yours was well done.
Smart - that song is special and you did a fine job respecting it while still adding a bit of your own flavor. That's the way it should be done. Of course, JMOWhenever I'm invited to do the anthem, I go in knowing full well that it ain't about me, so I play accordingly.![]()
Durham Bulls. They have anthem auditions before each season. I first got chosen back in 2015, been doing it once or twice a year (sometimes more if they make the playoffs) for them ever since. What Bulls? how did you get that gig?
Good job!!!
