Small tone report:
It's not my first 408 guitar, but the ones I bought are not with me yet, so this is my first time with those.
It's clear to me which direction PRS is taking here. It's a little different from the 57/08 24.5 scale path. It's not an attempt to sound like anything, but sound musical. All musical tones, and this is amazing, considering that classic guitar tones are at least 60 years old now.
So, you get very musical tones, either humbuckers, SC, or any combo. My experience with 513s are limited to a 513 Brazilian (the first one), which I still have, and those pickups, although usable, are nothing close to this, in terms of musical and dynamic qualities.
Add to this the wonderful semi hollow CU frame, which is great, but this I already knew.
Overall, it's a great tone machine. Once you get past your "tone memories", and listen to the sound without searching for classic tones, you easily reach to the point of listening great musical sounds, lots of harmonics and dynamics, either clean, lightly distorted, or even medium heavy drives (didn't try metal tones, probably won't anyway...).
