Noisy S2

I have just bought a new very nice S2 Standard 24 - great player but every time I touch the scratchplate below the neck pickup, I get a static crackling noise. Anybody had this before? The store have had a luthier look at it and they cannot seem to stop it. The stock shielding under the plate is only around the pots and switch - would shielding the entire plate and cavity solve it?

Yep sounds like static buildup, I had it on my S2 Mira and got this from PRS Customer Service:

"Try some shielding on the back of the pickguard or even try putting a static control drier sheet (for cloths drier). That can do the trick when your getting static build up."

Thanks for that, I'll give it a try.

I`ve had my old Mira and an SE EG shielded to get rid of the static noise. In both instances, it worked really well.
