Hello

Probably a real newbie question

I got my new Zach Myers SE.

The guitar is set up great, but there is no relief and a little buzzing in the lower frets. After attempting to loosen the truss rod nut, I find it was already loosened to the point where there is a good 1/32 inch gap between where the nut is and where it would make contact with anything.

It is a new guitar and has come from Arizona to Florida and may have to "settle" as I have heard from folks before.

Any pointers on this? I have a 30 day return window with the seller and I'm not sure how long I can wait to see if the neck will fix itself. I already use 10's and don't want to go any higher.

If these were easy to find I'd just swap it out, but I know if I return, there is no guitar to ship back to me.

I'm no expert, but I don't see any harm in tightening the truss rod and getting a slight relief and then watching it for a while. If it is still aclamating to Florida you will see the relief change and can adjust again then.

I feel a bit embarrassed, but will post this in case someone else has the same issue.

The truss rod works fine. Apparently it is normal to have a gap between the wood and the nut on these. The thought that the nut was completely loose was due to me attempting to use my US PRS truss rod wrench, which somehow would not fit on correctly and gave me the impression that there was no resistance in turning the nut. Noob mistake. I just like the US truss rod wrench because it has the screwdriver built into the end of it. An ingenious invention not unlike those cereal bowls with the straw built in.

All is well.
