No PRS' Played Around Here at ALL-I'm the Rare Bird

To the OP you should live in Podunk Alabama...I'm at least a 50 mile drive to the closest civilization...or at least any civilization with some taste...apparently.

Same here on the Teles...I have one local music store that I have desperately tried to trow money at...to no avail...they stock only Squier Teles and a couple of decent Martin acoustics. It's really sad I just needed some strap locks...waited two weeks, went back and still no strap locks in stock...stopped by yesterday...still no strap locks and now it's been six months...smh.

So, don't feel bad...you are not alone...just keep rockin the PRS. Remember not everyone can/knows how to appreciate the good stuff! Oh and be thankful that all your neighbors aren't married to their first cousins. So yeah, at least you have that.o_O

Yes, with an all Braz RW neck. I originally wanted an SC594T with piezo, but they wanted an up charge for the CNC programming. I sacrificed the 0.094” and went with the P245T instead, but added the Pattern Vintage neck carve.

Ya just had to tell the specs on that glorious beast didn't ya...now I have to change my pants again...thaaaaanks.:D

I did post it in excruciating detail on my NGD thread last summer - nearly a year ago now :)

Yes...it's branded into my psyche...I have your guitar pics and specs tucked safely away in my guitar porn spank bank.:D she's such a beauty! One of my all time favorites to be exact...that top..that RW neck..dang, gotta go change pants AGAIN!:D

.

OP .. I think you need to start with buying a couple of ebay/Reverb SE models and putting them in shops on consignment or CL in your market. When those sell try a few more and/or S2 and so on. You'll be the local dealer...

Sorry buddy...but that reminded me of my all time favorite line in a movie..."you are not your f@&€in Khakis!" Sorry I just had to..I'm a weak, weak man...(with a very dark and twisted sense of humor);)

I look just like Brad Pitt.”

“Not really.”

“Ask my wife.”

“She says you look light years worse than that guy.”

“In my mind, I look just like that guy.”

“So does your wife look like Jennifer Anniston or Angelina Jolie in your mind?”

“I refuse to answer that question, and assert my fifth amendment right to remain silent.”

Me too. What I'd do though is get Paul to approve me as a PRS only dealer here. Then I'd set up a store full of spec'd out PS beauties and capture the R9 and tele markets totally. Make millions in a couple years and expand until all musicians on the W Coast loved PRS. ;)

The Guitar Store in Seattle carries a large inventory of PRS at all times and most folks there are quite knowledgeable about them. They’ve done some great WL runs the past few years. Ask for Ted - he’s the man!
I got a rare Saturday afternoon to myself - so I went to the Guitar Store and hung out with Ted! Last time I saw him was picking up my PS build. Good time trying out several guitars including a Silver Sky, Exp Ltd Semi Hollow, WL CE24 and a used Westie (which weighed over 9lbs - shame!). I get the reason why folks love the SS and Ltd SH - great guitars! Also get the Westie love - I really should have one!

PRS are common in the uk. In fact, its mandatory to get a PRS every 3rd guitar you buy. The Musician's-Union will branch any instance of non compliance.
This is enshrined in law by the Stripey Guitar Act under the Blair-administration.

Yeah but things went south under the Theresa May (Brian’s cousin) administration!
And don’t get me started about this guy!

Lay off the crayons bro!;)

The last person I saw gigging a PRS locally (other than myself) was my buddy Greg. Of course he is a dentist (retired) so maybe that does not count.

“Djentist”??

I don't see many in the upper Midwest. But Prs is still a small builder compared to most of what I do see. I don't see many G&L either but those are also fantastic guitars. It's all proportionate. I bet I could only find a handful of new PRS' for sale at the roughly half dozen guitar shops I go to locally. One had to clearance their stock of Prs guitars out because no one was buying them.

I am in the San Diego area. I know and have played w many guitarists down here over the years. Many worked all the clubs and casinos around. WHAT IS THE DEAL. I never see anyone, not anyone w a PRS. I feel like am the only one except for (Ronnie Lee) an endorsee that plays a PRS. Do they not have the right rep or any on this coast? Every new guitarist I end up playing with comments on how nice my PRS's are but they all have Fenders, or knock offs or Gibsons or Ibanez.
And no one has ever knocked the sounds of my guitars. In fact I take my board everywhere and when I have it all going I even get a happily raised eyebrow from some others once in a while. Granted, further north in Orange and LA counties I have seen a little more PRS use. But not much at all. Not like in the east and other parts of the country.
I may be one of the biggest PRS proponents exposing others in this geography. In fact after thinking about this I should call Paul and have him send me some samples to seed around the county for more exposure. Jus' sayn'.
What's it like in your geography. Do the stores have big inventories of PRS and do the salespeople seem to know anything about them. I feel like I have personally taught many sales folks in music stores out here all about PRS and the models and history. Or does your area seem like what I have run up on. Do you have to go a major distance to see a PRS? Are you the Rare Bird in your town??? I can imagine this lack of knowledge and use occurring in small town situations but San Diego? Your thoughts?
Well, I know several local guitarists who have PRS, but Gibson, Fender, and Epiphone are by far the most prevalent. You see others too. It doesn’t help our local GC has usually about 2 PRS in stock. Our other big store Dietze doesn’t stock them. We do have a local store Lidgett’s who carries quite a lot! Oh btw, we live in the Omaha metro. We just bought our first PRS off Reverb last night.
