No Pattern Regular Neck option among Core models?

Hey guys - so I have a few different PRSi

I have a core SC245 and P245 with pattern necks, a CU24 with a pattern thin neck

S2 Vela with Pattern Regular
DC3 with Pattern Regular

Over time I’ve just settled into the pattern regular neck as it seems to be the most comfortable under my hands - so my main core models don’t get a lot of play time.

I’m now looking to add another guitar to the arsenal but there seem to be no pattern regular neck options Among two of the main candidates - the Studio and the MEV

Anyone know why Pattern Regular necks seem to be limited to the S2 line?

Also, anyone know of any dealer runs of the Studio or MEV with a Pattern Regular neck? Is that even possible?

I don't have any answers for you but do share your disappointment. Pattern Regular fits me best as well. You may want to consider a 509. It was only recently discontinued but there are probably plenty of new ones still out there and I think they are all Pattern Regular.

The neck on the DGT is very similar to Pattern Regular. You might want to play one for yourself and see if you like it.

Will definitely give it a try though I’m looking for something with a middle single coil to get those in between tones!

Oh that’s interesting - will definitely try a 509 in that case - thank you

You could try to track down a pre-2021 (I think) Core Custom 24 or Custom 24-08. Those would be about the last year that the Cores had the Pattern Regular. I have a Core Custom 24 35th Anniversary and LOVE the feel of the Pattern Regular on it. That said, I still think I'm partial to the Pattern and Wide Fat necks.

Regular necks just feel right, don’t they? They’re mostly on S2s due to tradition and demand. For custom neck profiles on Core models, check with big PRS dealers or look on Reverb.

My DGT is my Pattern Reg cu24 are basically the same, at least up to a point because one is 24 frets. But if you don't have a DGT, it to me is a must have.

Dave’s guitars had a new studio, I think in fire red, with a pattern regular neck…give ‘‘em a look? Then check Wildwood, CME, Northeast music, etc.. good luck!
I thought they only came in Pattern, but I could be wrong. regardless, I like Pattern as well, and the studio 22 seems to get great reviews. I was looking for one just recently until I decided to try TA for something different.

I sometimes wonder if it's just to wait for demand to increase before they change the tooling to run a different neck size.
Still hoping for a CU24 with a Pattern neck someday

Pat.Reg.? Not very much difference to Wide Fat profiles, too.
509 has already been mentioned.
My tactile mind says the profile of a DGT is more like swinging a bat. But not uncomfy though.
Please have a look at the discontinued 513. As of 2010, but sure, as of 2011 they have Pat.Reg. profiles.
I ordered my 513 - without any testing - by love at first sight. And grabbing the neck was like slipping the feet in your best suede shoes/boots.

Wide fat is same as Pattern right? My Pattern necks are very very different than my Pattern regular necks which are are very similar to dgt

I didn't say that. 'Not much difference' is my correct term for the comparison of Pattern Regular with Wide Fat.
My luthier made guitars got the measures of a Wide Fat (best out of three). The luthier was appointed by a customer, who ownes three McCartys, which differed obviously in the colour.
The customer argued, he has three guitars but the neck doesn't feel the same.
The luthier measured all necks and in the end all had different figures. But one of them made the customer comfy the most. The two others were thicker than the "comfy" one. That particular neck received perhaps a few sanding sessions first until the customer was fully satisfied. And the shape of this neck was copied on the others. And later mine guitars whilst the construction progress.
That been said. PRS offers a lot of manual work to their guitars, especially sanding, therefore is given always little variation.
What is relevant is the actual haptic approach to answer the question: Does it feel right?

WF and Pattern are very very similar, some say same, pretty sure even PRS. Probably more neck to neck variance than anything with hand sanding. My two favorite profiles are Pattern and WF.

You're right Pattern and Pattern Regular are definitely different. The nut width is narrower on the PR and typically a little less meat. I like it, but t's noticeable in the hand. Especially the nut width.

Here's PRS neck specs

there is a definitely some variances in the same necks. You can see in my profile pic a SC 594. I walked away from an insane deal on a new 594 HBII last year because the neck was too thick....same neck.

P22s had Pattern Regular necks. They're my favorite PRS profile too. Tried a DGT, but to my hands the DGT neck felt quite a bit different than the Pattern Regular.
