I am surprised that the single cut 594 is not available anymore. It had a slightly different sound based on video shootouts I heard. With the new McCarty III pickups providing the 594 a closer sound to today's Les Paul's, you would think this guitar would still be available. I assume the sales of the single cut was not much in demand? It looks like you can still get the single cut in S2.

We already know about Paul's guitar not being available, and yes you can get the Custom 24 08 which has the same pickups, though at 24, the front pickup will sound a little different due to the placement of the pickup being in a different place. Thankfully you can get it with the 22 frets, if you get a Modern Eagle which also has the same pickups but an extra pickup in the middle.

The Hollow Body II without the piezo is not as much of a big deal, but the price of course with the piezo cost more.

The only change to HB offerings is the Core ones both now come with the McCarty III pickups instead of the 58/15 LT's - but you can still get the McCarty 594 HB II or the Piezo HB II

And I'm with you, very surprised to see the SC594 disappear. Someone else suggested maybe there's a plan for an updated version to be released later in the year?

I'm surprised to see the 594 SC disappear, too, especially since it's a great sounding instrument! Maybe it just wasn't popular and the DC is.

Seems the only Singlecut model left on the board at this point is the Tremonti. I feel pretty lucky I got the McCarty Singlecut PS run model back in 2014. It's stellar.

As nice as the Tremonti is, the guitar isn't suited for my playing style.

Maybe a replacement single cut for the 40th Anniversary?

Whenever a product gets the axe, I always thing of Paul’s own words when people complained about no lefty’s, which seems like such an obvious product to cary, and surprising they don’t.

Essentially, if the market is there, they will make them all day long. If people don’t buy, the product is going away.

The usual supply the demand stance.
Makes 100% sense. Bit disappointing as always.

The near loss of the SC body style to the lineup is so funny to me. It’s introduction shook the whole industry, the lawsuit that resulted had major ripples throughout guitar brands everywhere. Multiple lawsuits ensued. Not just between PRS and Gibson, but other brands as well. A sort of IP wakeup call caused a lot of consternation across guitar brands large and small.

Gibson got raided. PRS had to vault a ton of wood and partially built inventory for a time, it was a whole mess. But they stuck to their guns in court and finally came out in top on that one.

And here we are nearly 20 years later, and… turns out nobody wants it anymore. :)

My guess, most people don’t pay so close an attention to the aural nuances between the construction of two, as they do the general weight difference. Which can also be negligible at times, but modern wood being what it is, any extra adds significant weight. Though PRS generally does better with it than some other folks are able, given the volumes they deal in.

I think as much as anything, the remaining guitar market seems to think with it’s eyes and it’s brain more than it’s ears. But I get it. There’s a level of ergonomics too.

The used market is so in the toilet now, and new guitars are starting to sit it stores for longer than they have for a while.

If you are trying to allocate resources in your production facility, seems like one of the easiest things is looking at the lagging market of the lowest hanging fruit, and start trimming there?

Glad they started finally making all nitro ones before the axe came down, and I was able to scratch that itch. I am sure there are many who disagree and long for the poly return. That’s not me. :)

It looks like regular McCarty is gone too, just 594 now, or did it happen last year?

I still want a solid Korina double cutaway 594. Would love if some shop did a small run of humbuckers and P90s. Bonus points if BRW boards.

If there has been a run, I am always on the lookout! :)

Discontinuing the Original McCarty Model would be disastrous in my opinion.
Just clicked the link and it goes to the homepage. Scrolled through the core models and the regular old McCarty is not listed.

I'm looking at the site right now. The McCarty is pictured right next to the DC594 and the Hollowbody 594
