I really, really love my recently acquired 2004 513, and so I went ahead with a mod I'd considered, but never gotten around to, for its predecessor (a 2011 513 that was a great guitar, but lacked a magic rosewood neck).
Last week I contacted the PTC, and on Monday I dropped my guitar off (it's less than a two hour drive to the factory, and I didn't want to trust this guitar to a shipping service if I didn't have to). On Wednesday I was told that it was done, and yesterday I was able to pick it up and spend a little time playing before bed.
1. This mod is very much worth it. I think that I'll regularly use the neck/bridge combo in all three modes.
2. Dealing with PRS was easy, with good communication and smooth drop-off and pick-up. And for a guitar like this, it was reassuring to have it in the hands of the folks at PRS, rather than a random tech who may or may not know what he's doing.
